Anybody know any useful tips to keep cool? I can't sleep at all. I've tried soaking a flanel over my head, an ice pack on the back of my neck, and wetting my hair with cold water but i still feel too hot. Any useful tips?
I guess you're asking for a cheap solution to the problem then. 1. I find not sleeping under a duvet and instead under a sheet cooler. 2. Sleep Naked. 3. Cold glass of water with ice. 4. Have a **** - you may feel a little more tired after that.
I don't want the bugs to come in with a window open though... I kinda have a fear of that. I've got an ice pack on my neck, and I've heard that if you keep your wrists cool, because the blood vessels are near the skin, it cools your blood down making you feel cooler.
Hence the comment: "Get a fan" Don't have your lights on and they shouldn't come in. I used to be the same, would always insist on having my window shut... until the summer, when doing that just became ridiculous as it was impossible to sleep. Definitely helps, and investing in a fan (one that's not too expensive) could be useful - it gets hot enough to make sleeping difficult most summers - so consider it an investment.
True but its a bit late now. Ok, what about leaving the curtain/blind shut as a shield? I'll try that. Thanks.
If you lie on your side you expose a larger surface area of your body to the air so it should radiate heat from your body not efficiently
http://www.alternativeinsectrepellent.co.uk/includes/images/skin-so-soft-newl.jpg Yes it's for women, but it's 6 quid and bugs absolutely hate it, I just put it on my arms and neck which keeps them away, think it's the smell. But yeah, have to open windows. And buy a fan.
That won't help at all. Shower before you you go to bed, not cold but normal temp. Get a fan, but I would expect they will be out of stock. If they are forget it now and buy one in winter. Avoid booze. Count Watford goals, once you get to 40 you will be asleep, don't worry you won't missed any.
Lights off, open windows, no covers. We had a discussion about Skin So Soft last summer. So far this summer, the only huge bites I've got happened when I forgot to use it before playing tennis on the grass. It does seem to work.
Get some of this...... http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Pharmaceuticals-Hot-Weather-Cooling-Spray-150ml-_1121530/ You'll smell like a tart's handbag but what do you care, you'll be asleep
Open the opening to loft - hotter air rises. Will also help draw air in for better circulation/create a draught. If you buy a fan - fill three quarters full a 2litre cola type bottle with water, put in deep freezer. Next night position it in front of fan = cooler air + very cold to drink as ice melts!
Stick icecubes in your armpits when you go to bed. Yeah, you wake up with a massive wet patch like you've dribbled everywhere, but you'll sleep alright.
Put your mattress on the floor.. as everyone knows hot air rises so the nearer you are to the floor the cooler it should be.
I find wandering downstairs at three in the morning and sleeping on the cold leather sofa works wonders. Bit of a shock when you first jump on it though.
I'm liking this series of thread from Simms Whats next I wonder How do you wipe your bottom correctly? I'm hearing voices, what are they? I have this strange downy hair appearing on my body I'm scared it may hurt when my voice breaks
