Looks like the club didn't have a choice. They couldn't send him on loan with only a year left on his deal so they cashed in when he decided not to sign a new contract.
Surprised he didn't sign a contract. Being a tinpot substitute keeper is way above the station of most keepers his age.
Have to say, I'm surprised Bond hasn't released a media statement about this. It seems like his public image is aloof to the point of arrogance and his lack of media saviness will be exposed and exploited. Bond needs to think about good PR and delegate it out if its not for him, because his current approach smacks of arrogance.
Thats a decent fee imo. Reckon they'll be a hefty sell on percentage too. This could be a clever move for all.
Being held over the top of the Church Car Park as we speak by Gino with Reading contract and pen in hand.
On twitter: Impossible to thank @WatfordFC fans players and staff enough in tweets like these. A club I've been at since 10 and will always be part of..
I guess Bond doesn't think he's good enough to break into the first team. If the club offered him a new contract and to send him on loan and he turned it down, you can only assume he doesn't see himself ever becoming the club number 1.
See the positives..maybe he thinks we have a really decent shout of establishing ourselves as a PL club and that he won't become our number one choice in any of the next two or three seasons..
A home grown player gone - probably means the likes of Hoban and Murray will be staying (and even a McGugan/Dyer..)
Well whilst we have enough and of course Gilmartin is 3rd choicel we cannot afford to let many more go - unless we bring in some more. Only saying Hoban will stay because there were reports he might go out on loan.
Hoban won't be named in the squad and Bond wouldn't have been either as he was going to be sent out on loan.
You keep saying this but repeating it doesn't make it true. We only need one homegrown player to make up an 18 man matchday squad.
