Obviously, Everton fans are happy to have signed a headless chicken who ultimately played a major part in them escaping relegation in one of there most challenging season ever. Am not sure any of there fans will forget that anytime soon! Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
That just isn’t true. Everton have blown £500m on **** players like Iwobi, they shouldn’t be anywhere near relegation in the first place, the fact that they are is because of signing shyte like him. You’re basically supporting the same argument as Sarr being a worthwhile signing because he got us out of the championship.
Another factor here is that last time we went down we couldn't act in the transfer market as we couldn't shift players - the Peterborough chairman said we wanted Toney but couldn't progress it as we needed to offload players first. There is no way Sarr is playing for us again but we can't be fannying about until the last knockings of the transfer window trying to get the biggest fee, especially with the season starting earlier because of the World Cup. But I also genuinely don't know who would pay enough for us to break even or even make a small loss. He's simply not a £30m player. Think it's quite possible we'll end up with a player desperate to get out but no suitors.
Strongly suspect the most likely outcome is him leaving for about £20m, but hypothetically, if we were to kick our heels and demand we break even on him, is his place in the Senegal team guaranteed? Would he still get in the team for the World Cup if he either sits on his arse or phones it in for the first half of the season?
Yes, and yes. Not to mention fanning the flames of hate for our club further, and risking more African curses, which as speculated by TVOR, could be responsible for our relegation.
Which flavour of African curses are more potent, Nigerian or Senegalese? I can handle us being cursed to relegation, but I don't want us being cursed to oblivion!
Iwobi isn't ****. Play him in his desired position out wide and he's effective. But yes they did vastly overpay for him.
We’ve already suffered at the hands of the Nigerian curse. I’m not willing to risk any further damage. Let him go, and get whatever we can for him.
But if they vastly overpaid for him then his realistic fee would represent that of a player at lower/struggling PL team, which is presumably not what Everton are aiming for.
That ain't true either. Since you don't know the facts, I will give it to you. They were actually doing well and in a good position on the table until a lot of there first team players got injured, and then started struggling to get points even at home against some very poor teams. Haha, at a certain point, they even had to play Iwobi as a striker when they had no other options. Without the injuries earlier in the season to there key players, Everton won't have found themselves battling to escape relegation. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
It’s certainly not true that Everton fans are happy with him on the whole, which was a point you made. You only need to look at their forums over the past year and see what they think of his time there….
I think he is part of a large collective of players Everton fans feel they have over paid for and not got the best out of. Now maybe Lampard has done.
That isn't a fact! When did I claimed Everton fans have been happy with him since he signed for them? My point was Everton fans are happy with him being one of the few players who stepped up his game when it mattered most to drag them to safety in one of there most challenging season ever. Starr is an enigma , he fast and can take on players , but lacks so much confidence even when we are doing well., he gets the ball runs forward and then either goes into the box and doesn’t know what do inevitably falling down , or goes wide and waits 2 mins for the rest of the team. if you could give Starr Dennis’s skill in front of goal , or Dennis Sarr’s ability to run without tripping up we would have a winner. suspect if Sara had team mates that could play to his strengths he would shine, but worry that he doesn’t have the mentality t to be a top player. Am happy for Sarr to go as don’t think we will ever see the best out of him, but would rather he went to udineese than any English side (particularly Liverpool / Everton )
Just read (on some Facebook thing) that they are now interested in JP as a Mane replacement , would rather they took Sarr
He should pick whether wants to be a footballer or a drummer, that way he might be a decent winger (or the best drummer in his band!)
Udinese are the buyer of last resort. It’s the destination used when there are no suitable external offers. If Sarr goes there it is assured we as an individual club are worse off than selling to Everton/Liverpool.
When Ismaila Sarr performed well for Metz, Rennes and performs well for Senegal - did you every stop to wonder that maybe, just maybe, its Watford and our desire to act like a circus that had Sarr underperforming?
I've got vague memories of Ken Sema having a decent game against Arsenal in Europa League. I don't think it's outrageous to say it's possible Sarr has had fewer than 20 good performances against high quality opponents (top 10 PL, top 8 Ligue 1, top international sides). That's not great for a 24 year old who we're wanting around £30m for
I'm probably not going to take too much notice of the opinion of someone who thinks Alex Iwobi is better to be honest.
Outrageous? No. But he came 2nd in L1 Young Player of The Season for Rennes (behind obvious winner Mbappe) so its probably not accurate either. I'd say he's very likely had more than 20 good performances against the opposition you suggest.
