Rumour has it Anya will be joining Simon Cowell as judge on the X factor. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainm...hunt-for-latino-girl-group/ar-BBjGtw7#image=1
I can't look at Cowell without wanting to punch him. He's just got one of those faces. I'm ashamed to admit it but there it is.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/12958164._/ GOSSIP: Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Watford wing-back Ikechi Anya in a £4 million deal
Defo take £4million - cant imagine his value would increase higher than that! Edit: Which follows the Pozzo model - Sell them at their highest value.
Would be sad to see him go but defo would take 4 mill due to his limitations and buy that Croatian RB from Serie A
Yep - he did not set the championship alight so unlikely to be good enough long term for Premiership. £4m is a fair price
Don't mind if he stays or goes; though he would likely only be a back up squad member if he stayed, so @ £4m, thanks and goodbye would be my overall preference.
For £4m we could potentially get someone better though, or put some of that money towards getting someone like Garbutt on a free (high competition for him probably so we could give him a competitive offer)
You don't have to fill the quota. you can just do without like most of the bigger clubs in the premier league have done in the past seasons. with only one year left on his contract £4m is a very good price for Anya.
What and only have 17 players available over the age of 21? Risky unless we invest heavily in quality youth.
I think he was thinking more along the lines of potentially leaving out one space if it came down to it, not all of them.
People on here think we're still little old Watford don't they. Some people, on the record, thought £5m would have been a good price for Deeney this time last year, and made a case for it. Personally, I am thinking in terms of if the first offer would have sounded reasonable in the olden days, then double it. Eight million min for someone Celtic know to be a proven international, and anyone who wants to call them up and talk them down because we know better is a tool. £4m between two top flight clubs for Anya is the absolute bare minimum before add-ons.
He has a year left on his contract. You're not going to get £8m for Ikechi Anya with one year left on his contract.
It'll be a bidding war between Celtic and no-one because clubs in England know he's not all he's cracked up to be. Ketch is a cracking guy but we're never ever getting more than £5m for him with 1 year left on his contract.
If Anya won't sign an extension to his contract we would be silly to turn down any offer of this magnitude. Strachan wanted him to play in Premier though.
Not for Watford he didn't but somehow managed to score one for Scotland against Germany with Neuer in goal.
Clearly the Irn Bru diet of the Scotland squad had an impact on his finishing. As said somewhere Celtic never pay out big fees, so probably agent talk hoping to get a few teams interested or as a pre-emptive before the contract renegotiations.
Generally that, very few teams actually name a full squad of 25 players. Like if we sold Anya and only Named 22 players I don't think that would make too much difference. 2 players for every position and a handful of U 21s backing up the first team. We have less games this season and should have a much tighter squad.
Why would Anya spend his entire career working himself up from the absolute bottom of the footballing ladder only to move to the SPL when he has finally made it to the Premier League?
I don't necessarily think we would get 8m for Anya, but I have a lot of contempt for the dismissiveness so many of our fans have for his value to us and to other teams. It was exactly the same with Troy last closed season; people seriously suggesting we'd take five million for him before the start of the season, and people getting derided for suggesting we wouldn't accept 10m for him, let alone the idea that a team would offer between 10-15m for him. I remember Troy's short contract was part of the argument then too. I'm glad we had the Pozzos in charge and not the fans. People are now denigrating Anya's worth, as they did with Troy, so I say why would we snap the hand off a side offering four million for a player before we've even had a say. Sounds like Baz to me. If they offer four, we say why would we sell him for that, and then find out what they are really willing to pay for him, not say 'are you sure, cause we think he's a bit pop really.' I am amazed and frankly horrified at the offensive negativity some fans have towards decent players who have served this club well, and played a part in our success.
