Well another season is upon us. With a couple of games late night and some more tonight. The Flyers after all there changes went into defending champion Boston last night and won. What do you think will happen this year? Boston Repeat, Longo finally putting it together, maybe the caps will get there this year.
Will Sidney Crosby return? What a shame that would be for the sport if he doesn't come back, or comes back a shadow of his former self.
Caps looking better than Bruins... Which is annoying as a Bruins fan. Also the NHL isn't on ESPN in the UK now... :'(
I've been watching a fair amount. Been some really good games and a lot of surprise results. Enjoying it.
Unfancied teams making the grade. Predators beating the Wings for a start. Penguins did well to thump the Flyers and Bryz. Only to lose out. At least Geno can turn out for Russia at the WC's. So it's come on Caps.
i follow the canucks. i know bring on the hate. we were terrible in the playoffs though, really missed sedin for the first few games.
Shocking for Vancouver to win the Presidents cup and then nearly get swept by the lowly Kings. Not sure if this registers with you all, but NHL is unique insofar as the teams are reseeded in the tournament after the rounds are over. Typically, in most tournament formats, a team like the 8th seeded Kings who beat the 1st seeded Canucks would go on to be rewarded for their upset by facing the winner of the 4 vs 5 seed game. However, in the NHL, the Kings as the lowest seed, get matched up with the highest remaining seed, which happens to be the Blues. It's very fair to the higher seeded teams and sucks for Cinderella teams like LA. I just learned that...maybe not news to you guys.
oh that is news to me actually. very odd and a bit unfair lol. canucks didnt deserve to go through really, their powerplays have been very poor for quite a while.
Literally the only other hockey fan I know is a Caps fan, and I'm a Bruins fan. Game 7 on Wednesday, and it's been so tense. Last year was my first season of following the NHL, and it was pretty cool to be a Bruins fan last year. Before you say, as well, it was due to being in Boston and my dad living over there from almost a couple years ago now. He's moved back now, which is pretty annoying because i'd love to go back, especially for a playoffs game. Last time I was there we had just started the playoffs very badly indeed against Habs. As they say, Let's Go Bruins! (the most dull chant in the history of sport...)
I am a fan of the flyers goal celebration.
I think Kernkraft 400 Zombie Nation is played at TD Garden. Amazing track. As in this: (or some different mix of it actually)
Pretty much...I have been to about 15 Kings games in the last 2 years, which is more than most do for teams they are 'hardcore fans' of. Point of fact...I am not from LA. The only team in LA I like is the Galaxy. I prefer teams from other cities I've lived in for all other sports. I've never been much of a hockey fan and that's the difference now.
Last night sucked.. The way overtime ends so suddenly is always brutal if you're on the losing end. Ah well, I'll be supporting the Caps from now, seeing as they're my mate's team. Kings v Blues will be interesting, hope it's a great game Fitz.
It was a great game. The intensity out there was really high. Play-off hockey is incredible to watch.
I turned the game on the radio on the way home, and it was already 1-0, and quickly it became 2-0 as I listened. I got home, changed, and walked to the Red Car, my local, and it was already 5-1. The Blues are truly awful with the power play. Hopefully my game 4 ticket let's me see the clincher! First I have to get up to Seattle, get ripped and watch the G's win.
