I Despise This Football Club

Yep that’s fair. First few years were fantastic, I can remember the time I turned against Pozzo. We lost 1-0 late in season at Huddersfield before cup final season. Defence all at sea. I thought Pozzo would act. He just gave Britos a contract extension! That was the point it became clear to me he didn’t care about the team and was just interested in his player trading. Ironically that conclusion was before our best season of all

All I ask is that once Bilic is sacked we start a petition to make me the new manager. Currently undefeated as the manager for my sons u6 team, (mind you we are only 2 games into the season) playing beautiful football which has seen high scoring games. Currently have the top goal scorer of the league sitting on 10 goals after 2 games. My son as the top assister with 6, and my other son with the wonderful Holebas record of taking as many kids out as possible, reducing them to tears. Our team name is the Hornets, so at least I have one team to be proud of.

    That's a touch harsh.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
There are some members on here that refuse to believe that anything is wrong at the club. Totally blind to the problems on and off the pitch.
Will you ask these 'anoraks' to leave the site if we fail to achieve the aim of the club which is Promotion?
It appears that the majority feeling on this site is one of utter despair at what they see on the pitch.
On and off the field, the club is in a bloody mess.
For me, we are closer to being in league one next season than the Premier league.
I will always be a fan, but the club right now is nothing to be proud of and it doesn't deserve the support it receives week in, week out.

Whilst I empathise and to a very large extent agree with the sentiment that it’s just modern football, and that all modern owners are the same and they’re just after the money, I think that ignores the one glaring issue with our club and that sets us apart from all those other greedy owners and the modern game, manager turnover. No other club anywhere goes through 3 managers a season, season after season. That is wholly unique to us and it’s not fair to just brush that off as the modern game, because it’s not the modern game for every other club.

And nor is it normal for the optimal composition of the squad to be compromised because the owner has an outdated view that you can’t make money on defensive players and will also prioritise furnishing his agent friend over the needs of the team. He doesn’t do it on purpose. He’s just incompetent,

    Goodness me!!!

So many thoughts going through my head at the moment!!!

    I'll start at the top...

Be done with attendance by all means, but don't stop being a poster. One less 'established poster' on here means one more space at the table for a ****wit, here or elsewhere in the whole equation of universal social media, to sit at.

    Scenes/Limbs/1881 sorts

'Twas ever thus. On reflection, I'm not proud about joining in with chants about Harry Roberts to goad the Old Bill back in the day. But that's what we did. Compared to those of us of a certain age, these sorts are entitled pansies, not really worthy of much air time. Let them have their Andy Warhol (127 views) moment of fame...

Like all the others, he's passing through. We, the fans, remain the custodians of this club. Thus it remains incumbent on us to pass it down the generations.

True, but it's not the majority though, by any stretch of the imagination. From what I could see in the Rookery on Weds, there wasn't any enthusiastic clapping like there was at Stoke - a few were going through the motions, like the players do when they clap the fans after a poor performance. The rest of us either didn't clap, then rolled our eyeballs & huffed as we left and some people booed. My point about Moog's condescending post was that the majority of our fans aren't 'moronic' or 'so, so very dumb' just because they don't support the team the way he wants them to.

So my plan. We all boycott the club, stop going, stop buying tickets. The 1881 can stick around and hide in their bunker for as long as they like

The thing is though - my memory of what the club used to be in the 20 or so years pre-Pozzo in which I was a supporter, was of one which spent more time in League One than the Premier League and generally flirting with relegation more than promotion. The two times we completely defied the odds to somehow get promoted we never had a hope of surviving more than a season and finished last.

The Pozzo era brought what I never thought possible growing up as a Watford fan, which was numerous consecutive seasons in the PL, and now a greater expectation that the club should be one of the caliber that should be challenging for promotion again rather than merely avoiding the drop.

I have no nostalgia for bottom-half Championship wilderness.

I want Pozzo out ASAP. Nonetheless Jumbo when they scored the free header I was seething partly against Pozzo and what he has wrought but also the fact we were going to lose. From now on until Pozzo goes I'm not going to spend much time on the club. It's come to the point after forty odd years of a lack of interest.

Chair is an excellent player and Willock when fit .

Good for them they got back in the game quickly .

Just noticed - all our wins have been live on TV.

Maybe that is the answer ?!

I also think we are unique in the way that we sign players who are totally unsuited to our needs, simply because they fit one of Pozzos other agendas.

It's fine to think fans are 'entitled' except we're not. We just wish we hadn't spent 15m on Kaymbe, Kalu, Okoye and Bayo rather than buying players who made sense.

It’s sadder because it’s not like Venky’s level of **** you. The issues are so preventable, we’re not asking for £15m defenders, just some form of upgrade in that position. It really isn’t that expensive.

It’s very strange they continue to behave this way, they are very good at some things, they could be fantastic quite easily too, that’s the frustrating part for me.

I gave up my season ticket this year and life is so much better. I’ve been building a shed/cabin/man cave out if reclaimed wood in my spare time. The joy is so much greater. Sometimes I don’t even think about the game until it’s over. They’re the best days.

I am always going to be a Watford fan, but right now I don’t miss going. And when I pay my £10 to watch disappointment, I spend some of the time listening to a crowd I no longer feel an affinity with. I prefer the facilities and refreshments available at home. I don’t have to queue up for something that might ease the pain/fill the void, paying silly prices and missing the game that I’ve paid to see. And when we lose, I think how good it is that I don’t need to travel back to London, and thank God I didn’t spend money and time on that.

I have become disillusioned with Pozzo. But I’m also getting old. I genuinely care about my shed.
