EXCLUSIVE: Millers duo in £1.2 million sale
ROTHERHAM United have sold both hot-shot Will Hoskins and midfielder Lee Williamson to Premiership strugglers Watford.
And the joint deal is expected to pocket around £1.2 million for the Millers in what is the biggest transfer deal in the club’s history.
United chairman Denis Coleman said this morning that he was in no rush to sell either player (see Friday’s Advertiser) but in a late twist the Vicarage Road club slapped an improved offer on the table which the Millers couldn’t refuse.
The players will meet Watford officials on Friday to finalise personal terms.
Sixteen-goal Hoskins has been trailed by a catalogue of top clubs - over 30 scouts were at a recent home game and another two joined the chase this week.
The 20-year-old turned down a new contract offer to stay at Millmoor and make him the club’s highest earner.
Williamson has been out forseveral weeks through injury, making his comeback last week, but has also been watched by several clubs.
The deal is understood to involve £900,000 being paid up front - while boss Alan Knill will now step up his search for replacements.
Chairman Denis Coleman told the Advertiser that the offer was too good to refuse, despite having said he was in no rush to sell Hoskins or Williamson

Sounds proper to me! They have the Rotherham chairman on record confirming it. £1.2m is a good deal, especially as we're only paying £900k up front. Now lets sign Collins John and a new full back and i'll be happy ;D

    Good stuff.

I am sure they will do well in the Championship (cannot expect them to save us from relegation really) IF we go down and we know Aidy works well with youngsters.

According to tomorrows Advertiser, Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson have already joined premiership Watford.
    Will - Gone
As Denis Coleman's recorded interview with Radio Sheffield was on air, news broke that a deal had been done with Watford for both players.

Paul Rickett from the Rotherham Advertiser penned an article for the Advertiser website www.rotherhamadvertiser.com stating that a late deal had been done and that both players will travel to Watford on friday to finalise personal terms with the Premiership club.

The 'Tiser is reporting that the Millers will recieve a club record £1.2m with £900k of that up front.

    Willo - Gone
Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Denis revealed that funds will be available for Knilly to bring in replacements for both players, with a Striker now top of the list with Hoskins and Dave Hibbert now leaving the club.

"We now know something is happening," Coleman told Radio Sheffield, "I've just left Alan about five minutes ago and told him to get on with looking for who he wants, we had a meeting yesterday and hes now putting some final touches to them."

We're so weak at left back it's pathetic. Williamson is an attacking midfielder isn't he?

Will Hoskins, born 6 May 1986 in Nottingham, is an English football striker who currently plays for Rotherham United F.C. in Football League One. Hoskins is currently the third highest goalscorer in League 1, with 15 goals in 21 appearances. He won the player of the month award for October 2006.

At 5ft 9in, Hoskins is decent in the air and excellent in positioning himself for crosses. He has a great first touch and is outstanding on the edge of the box, slipping away from defenders and rattling off shots at a rate rarely seen. He has lightening pace, making unselfish runs that open up space for team-mates and hunting the ball down with great enthusiasm when required. His exceptional skill and eye for goal make him a player that you want to see on the ball as much as possible.

Lee Williamson (born 7 June 1982) is an English footballer who plays for Rotherham in Coca-Cola League 1. He is wideley regarded as one of the best players in League 1, recently attracting interest from many large clubs in the Championship, including Leeds United and Luton.(BIG TEAMS???) However, none of the clubs interested came close to Rotherham's valuation of the talented young player. Chairman Dennis Coleman allegedly said that he would not let him go for "less than a million". However, it is assumed that this was an exaggeration and that he would be allowed to leave the club for somewhere in the region of half that amount. Barnsley FC are the most recent team to show interest in Lee, making a offer of £200,000.

Both sound pretty decent to me and may just get a look at them on Saturday;D
