I am sure Gomes wouldn't say anything in public against the manager but he did look rather hacked off sitting on the bench last week!
I don't like this at all - a popular and responsible player saying that the club has lied. Why did they do that, and why wasn't the decision explained to Gomes? I hope there's just been a misunderstanding - or is Gomes himself telling a porkie?
We don’t know the background but this doesn’t seem the right way to be handling this. Gomie is a senior player, has (in Pozzo terms) been here a long while & has plainly contributed more than just his playing time to the club. Gomie has earnt respect.
Because he's much better than gomes and younger I guess. Would love for gomes to stay in some capacity though.
All players especially senior ones need to know the reasons for being picked or not. I hope this is just an oversight or communication issue. I'd rather have Bachman (as our no 3) on the bench than Gomes/Karnesas (1/2) as the matchday experience will be more useful and it;s unlikely a GK sub will be required, but imho there's still all to play for as no, 1. Karnesas has played himself into contention and competition is only a good thing. It;s nice to have a choice of safe goalkeeping hands and I hope Gomes is not too peed off.
Strange to hear a non-black Brazilian using a double negative assuming the above was accurately transcribed.
We don't want to throw Bachmann in at the deep end, otherwise he's in danger of turning to overdrive.
from what ive seen double negatives don't exist in Portuguese. the negatives confirm rather than contradict what came before.
Anyone know when HG's contract is up? If it's this summer that could be a reason he's being let down lightly towards the end of the season, so the wages are freed up for a new number 1. Can't see any other reason if he himself says he is fully fit? Can't see how anyone could ever fall out with Gomes in an off the field incident etc. Surely he would otherwise be ahead of Bachmann? Would do well in the Championship or take him on as our GK coach, didn't Chamberlain go recently? What about that other Italian GK coach Paulo De Tuffalo (SP), is he still with us or did he also get the tin tac ?
Paolo de Toffol? He's no longer coaching at Watford, but apparently he's been redeployed as a Pozzo scout in Italy, so he's still 'on the books' in a wider sense.
I thought the plan was for Karnezis and Pontus Pilot to fight over the number one spot next season. Don't really see where Gomes fits any more, although I would love to seem him take over as coach.
I like Gomes, he has won us games by himself in the past. I would like to see him get a few more games under his belt, but his time is coming to an end. I expect he knows this too and is just frustrated at being on the bench.
Sky actually said we "need to get back to winning ways" after losing to Arsenal while mentioning Gomes and his non rift with the Club. Bit bizarre.

I appreciate that this is only your opinion and has nothing to do with circumstance or reality, IMHO.
I thought Karnezis was on a loan which can be made permanent at any time. I also got the impression that if was an 11th hour fall back because we couldn't get eigher of the keepers we were after, so this seems like a strange assumption to me. Not saying you are wrong.
Gracia has said Gomes did have a personal issue so hadn't trained last week and he only wanted to pick players who had been in all week. Also said Gomes was told and understood it so maybe there was a mis-understanding or Javi just wanted to not make an issue of it.
As mentioned in the Ben Foster thread by R4E, Gomes looks like he's played his last for WFC. http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-p...-hes-probably-leaving-club-plans-sort-future/ Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that he’s unlikely to be staying at the club for next season. The 37-year-old has spoken to ESPN Brasil this week, and made it clear that he will have to find a new club to continue his career. Gomes was simply asked if he’s returning to England in the next week, with no further questions about his future or where will he play at. But he was quickly saying he should leave the Hornets. “Saturday, I gotta solve my life there. Let’s see what happens. But probably I will not stay at Watford, even because the manager doesn’t count on me for next season so I have to go there to sort out my future.” “I have many possibilities, one of them is to come back to Brazil, but the future belongs to God.” Asked if he’s keen on returning to his home country, Gomes said: “I don’t know, it depends on the project, I pretty much like to take projects, and it has to be a great project, you know? I don’t to come back just to play.” Signed on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in 2014, Gomes has made 149 appearances for Watford in his four seasons at the club. He even made 26 appearances for the Hornets last season, but has been benched since January, and only had one last chance to play for the club in the Premier League’s final fixture against Manchester United.
One of my favourite players of the Pozzo era. If he is to leave, I hope we get a chance to give him an ovation at the Vic some time soon.
I hope he gets offered a player coach contract, with the intention of him moving on to coaching full time with the club.
