Watford tried to sign Peterborough's 22yo defensive midfield Hector Kyprianou on deadline day. We failed with a £2.5m bid. Can't find the source but is being reported on Twitter by WD18
According to Louorns the Peterborough chairman . https://twitter.com/louorns/status/1755144513062936973 McAnthony is quite busy on x regarding issues about his club .
Ah Louorns of course...should have known, with his self-promoting I told you so attachment from 29th Aug.
Isn’t it annoying that it only became apparent we needed a DM on deadline day. If only the owner had known sooner we could’ve acted earlier and actually had a chance of doing a deal.
To be fair, their owner confirmed our interest/bid on his own podcast - also said that part of the deal he would have accepted was that the player was loaned back to them until the end of the season…which was clearly going to be a red-line point in our reasoning to sign him in the first place.
Well I don’t think it should have been such a show-stopper really. If that was the terms they insisted on then we should have just done the deal. We don’t have him now anyway, so what’s the difference? We sign him, loan him back and would have him for next season. Not ideal but at least he would have been our player.
We might look elsewhere in the summer I guess and not sure it would have gone well spending that on a player but then not seeing him for a few months ?
People are unhappy that we spent £2m on Chakvetadze - can only imagine the opinion if we spent more money on a player we couldn’t use immediately, especially in a sorely needed position of the pitch.
That has never stopped Pozzo from doing what he wants to do . Fan's reaction has never crossed his mind as part of the decision process. The fans are placid and will accept anything anyway.
You’d have thought we’d have learnt last time to get a Peterborough signing over the line whatever it takes. But then again, our owner likes to laugh about the fact that he turned down Osimhen like it’s a badge of honour. Oh how our fans laughed with him.
Maybe by a lot of standards particularly abroad when fans smash in the training grounds and organise mass protests but don't think all fans are happy with what is going on at all if x is anything to go by unless you think they are just being fickle and all will be well again after a few good results? Maybe at the ground not much is said but then there never has been really.
I know even on this forum, you cannot say anything negative or else you get rounded on and ridiculed. The Watford supporter base are largely enablers and will clap and support absolutely anything. I know from experience, if you buck the optimistic trend you get alienated, and that's a big problem. It allows Gino Pozzo to get away with what he is doing. I've got so much abuse and ridicule for saying we are crap and will be in a relegation fight this season, but suddenly those who always pop up telling me how wrong I am are strangely quiet today. Maybe the penny is dropping, but that will only last until we win our next match.

To "get away with what he is doing". What, run a football club less well than he used to? You seem to act as if it's a massive problem that we aren't out on the pitch stopping games like the Reading fans, simply because we're not likely to be promoted this season. You've been rounded on and ridiculed because you've been going on about how we'll be relegated all year, despite it not being remotely likely, even when we've been pretty poor. It's not a crime to underperform - Gino has been accused of some actual crimes, but this isn't one of them. We're still at the level we were when he took over, we've spent most of the intervening period at a better level than that, and while I wish it was less dodgy than it appears, we've done alright for a club without massive financial backing. The level of entitlement of some people on here is wild. It's quite hard to get promoted to the Premier League and stay there, as many clubs have found out, many of them sinking far lower than we have. It doesn't mean other fans don't find it frustrating that we've been relegated and don't look likely to get back, but saying the supporters are "largely enablers" just because we don't think mid-table means the sky is falling in is ridiculous, and so you are ridiculed.
Another random has popped up. Someone is having some fun with swapping accounts around. Wonder who that could be?
Almost as if our largely 2nd string team losing (in a game we're probably better off losing anyway) to a team that's in 2nd place and is 24 games unbeaten isn't really worth yet another argument as to whether we're gonna get relegated or not
So ruddy, bloody close on deadline day Fair play Pozzo and Dux all is forgiven, out ambition is evident
You'd think this would make us heavy favourites to get him in the summer. Then he'll sign for Preston for £1m while we pay £5m for Camara from Charleroi.
Haha imagine the weekly ParlaciPod as Pozzo ruminates about the week and Bayat activates the hooter when he cracks a joke. Would be box office.
No divine right to be in the Premier League Entitlement Mention of another club who are in a worse position than us Mention of other clubs ending up in a worse position The club has still punched above its weight under Gino Someone, somewhere has a full house on Cog bingo tonight.
I don't post that much, largely because everything on this forum degenerates into exactly this sort of repetitive conspiracy theorising rather than actually engage with any points. I'm not Gino or Reids, or a COG, mainly because I don't know what that actually is or would be. I look on here enough that I should have known trying to engage would lead to pettiness, but sometimes you forget what the internet is and the fancy takes you. I'll remember not to bother next time, lest the chips on your shoulders grow into either trees or potatoes.
