Been told on Twitter by a BBC correspondent about reports saying he's coming over to train with the team for a few days. 17-year old Keeper, currently at Maccabi. Born in 1998(!!!).
I think someone's Havin y'on Actually it does sound like a made up name. I had to check that it wasn't. He was less than a year old when Wright & Smart scored at Wembley!
I thought it was a madeup name too, and not a particularly convincing one but he's legit! http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/haviv-ohayon/profil/spieler/312385
Spent a good 5 minutes looking at the thread title to figure out the joke as I wanted to get it before I came on here..
For the benefit of those of you that don't speak Hebrew, this is already on their official website. He also is ****ing class, hope this leads to a permanent signing.
Haha didn't know they had another site... He's really, really good. Pretty sure was on a Guardian list of best 100 players under 18 in the world.
Training with us for 3 days apparently. Bit strange as we know Flores only needs 3 minutes over an Americano
Apologies to country fans.. I asked my love to take a walk To take a walk, see what she thought Who's the greatest keeper, we have known? Was it Gordon Banks or the Ohayon?
Well if this is a wind up, the Watford Observer have fallen for it too, as they are reporting he is indeed coming for a 3 day trial :rolleye1:
Raphael Gellar (@Raphael_Gellar) 21/01/2016 18:32 There are reports in Israel that GK Haviv Ohayon impressed Watford officials and that they could offer contract soon.
Ah found it now, has apparently signed. Assume he'll be third choice and thus free up a squad place due to his age.
Teenage kid isn't he, just turned 18, hence why we can now sign him. He will go straight into the academy and battle with the two other very promising international keepers I would imagine. Do Israelis need work permits or due to the fact that they are part of UEFA make it easier?
Did we get him in time so he's home grown when he's 21? (If signed before 18 would have trained for 3 years)
From Raphael Cellar on Twitter. Watford have offered 2 million Euro for U-19 Israel international & Maccabi Tel Aviv GK Haviv Ohayon, cc: @WatfordTalk & @RookeryMike.
Holds a Romanian passport so no work permit issue. http://www.thejc.com/sport/sport-news/162584/ohayon-18-undergo-medical-watford
According to Adam Leventhal - is at the training ground completing a move: Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal 8m8 minutes ago One additional #WatfordFC line 18 yr old Israeli keeper Haviv Ohayon is at tg completing move from Maccabi Tel Aviv. One for the future.
Watford paying 2.5 mill Euro for an 18 year old, how times have changed The year before the Pozzos we spent £800k on 5 players
