He always looks completely miserable lumped out on the right, but he should be first choice on the left. Seems bizarre he's been shoehorned into totally the wrong position.

Can't see it. Masina and the guy Spurs bought are surely enough.

Well at least we won't have to watch him on the right anymore. Gino = problem solver.

Another bizarre twist in the tale of the club seemingly being dead set on signing a competent LB that our latest manager actually needs and wants.

Apparently he’s been sold for £16 million but loaned straight back to us

The current manager doesn't even want a LB, which is the issue. The problem though is what will his replacement want in a couple of months?

The question is why after all the outgoings, and incoming pedro deal, we would need any more cash? Incredibly confusing.

Having to get Udinese to pay us a massive fee and loan him back to us, it's almost as if Duxbury was lying and our finances are completely f*cked. Strange.

I get what you mean, but why such a high fee if selling the club?

Tbf we've made £11M profit and get to keep the player until the season where he hits 30. This seems fairly good? Just incredibly worrying why we need the money.

If the intention is not to sell the club this is a great way to inject cash but not devalue to the team.

If they are selling then it does not quite makes sense to pay £16m for him does it - would go for much less as part of asset stripping? Thoughts?

Could this be a way to keep Sarr and maybe fund a few more to get back up?

We obvs need the money - that much is clear. This way they keep the cash flowing and a good chance to go up and pay abck the debts in the PL?

If this is our way of keeping Sarr, then bring it on.

Time after time we’ve come off worse with our dealings between Udinese and ourselves.

This time it seems to be working in our favour,

Nothing changed for us. We still have Kamara available all season.

And a tidy income of funds that can only be used to our favour.

Either it’s something to reduce Udinese’s tax burden (they’re up around 20m from their dealings this summer) or our finances are absolutely screwed. Or, most likely, both.

At least with Pussetto we overpaid by about £3m. Udinese are overpaying by £11m imo.

Think it just means our finances are more screwed than duxbury likes to pretend. Wonder if we have arranged for Udinese to pay it in 5 years instalments so we can immediately sort out another pay day type loan???

Yeah not sure, unless there's plans to invest some money in the squad with the money we've made off sales so far and then use the HK money to pay off some debt to make us more attractive to a potential buyer? Udinese have made absolute bank over the past 2 seasons (over £80m profit in player sales according to transfermarkt) so could afford to slightly overpay on his true value, and if it gets Gino the sale of the club then that's a good business decision on his end - as well as Udinese getting themselves a solid LWB when Udogie moves to Spurs next season. But this is just me speculating.

Oh definitely, it's not bad business at all from a financial POV

Feels like we're really in the sh!t to ask for the money in one go. Maybe we can't afford a repayment on a loan or outstanding transfer fees? I don't believe for a second that this has anything to do with Sarr because surely we're about to cash in on JP in a few days.

On the surface this looks as dodgy as hell, and is alarming if the money is needed to "plug gaps" as SD put it. However, if Watford get promoted, what's to stop us signing him back for £16m? We've got him for this season still and £16m is a lot of money. Way over his market value I'd say.

But, with all this incoming money, it is alarm bells time and I think fans have a right to be concerned over our financial situation and how vital is it we gain promotion.

    It’s baffling.

Duxbury says the club doesn’t have to worry about finances. When further questioned by AF this morning, he says he said that because he knew there’d be player trading to plug the gaps. But then he said back then that there was no need to sell anyone and the squad was fine.

The guy just continually spins lie after lie and can’t see how often he contradicts himself.

Either we have transfer instalment due that we can’t settle due to cashflow issues or we are about to go on a spending spree. Interesting week ahead!

Unfortunately I reckon it’s the former. Our finances have been in tatters for years and the chickens are coming home to roost.

Just to bang the drum on this, it was being suggested in some quarters that even Duxbury had turned over a new leaf and we should give him the benefit of the doubt, etc etc.

I personally don't think we can read this admission, that he beamed like the baby from Teletubbies at our brave Andrew French and assured him of just what a healthy, wonderful financial position we were in just a month or two ago, and yet supposedly knew all along that said beaming would be borne on the wings of selling off huge amounts of the family silver and pulling off a stinkingly dodgy deal with Udinese in which they massively overpay us for a player that will benefit them in no way whatsoever whilst doing so with the entire fee paid upfront (an incredibly rare thing in football, as far as I am aware) and draw the conclusion that anything at all has changed with him.

Posters complain when we buy players from Udinese at inflated fees because it's supposedly taking cash permanently out the club.

Posters complain when we then sell players to Udinese at inflated fees (while still keeping the player) because??? it's supposedly bringing an injection of useful cash in to the club????

    Please make it make sense!!
