http://www.eatsleepsport.com/watford/watford-bid-for-robson-kanu-in-balance-2137390.html We're being linked along with Hull, Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Swansea to the suddenly-famous Wales striker. Papers are reporting that he's waiting until deadline day to make a decision any which way. Would be a class signing imo, plus he's homegrown and doesn't have a transfer fee.
Let's be realistic here though, we've got 5 strikers competing for a first team place here already and he isn't better than any of them. Had a good summer and is homegrown but it would be a pointless transfer.
A class signing ??? Who a) hasn't already been snapped up and b) Reading refused to extend his contract !! Don't need him.... He can go off to the Middle East and take Nyom with him hopefully.
Yeah, a remedial class signing. Would be an absolute waste of a squad space and, for what it's worth, little about how the Pozzos have recruited since 2012 suggests he's the type of player who would be on our radar.
He's absolute ****. Couple of decent games at the Euros and he's Messi. Any decent club would have snapped him up already, let Hull have him.
Presumably a considered a cheap HG hold the ball up striker as an alternative to Deeney playing 90 mins every game. Not the worst and clearly can take an opportunity. But Walter would have to feel he could improve him significantly.
One pokey website put 2 and 2 together and get 5 and suddenly people on here are treating it as if it's going to happen.
I hope not, but I wouldn't surprise me if there's some truth in this rumour. There were lots of rumours about us being interested a couple of months ago. We had a whole thread & everything.
I'll decide whether or not it's been a great window when I've seen our newcomers play a bit more. As yet, I'm not convinced. But I agree with your main point.
A freebie so maybe sign him up for a season and see how he does I have to agree with sone of the other posts on here that Robson Kanu is worse than all of our other strikers but if he can play like he did in the euros I dont think this signing would be too bad.
For what it's worth, I believe Reading tried to extend his contract but Robson-Kanu didn't want to re-sign. He hasn't been snapped up yet because apparently he's waiting until deadline day to take an offer. Some people that have seen more of him than I have think he's not any good, but clearly he can finish and he's got enough talent to be a first team player on the Wales international squad. I agree it would be a strange signing with both Sinclair and Success already coming in this summer, but he's more experienced than either of those two. Don't think he'd want to come here to be a rotation player, though.
He'll find a Championship club, as he's out of contract he can sign any time for a Football League club, not just confined to the transfer window.
Now the Boufal deal is dead, I hope we are back in for Hal. Get excited? I'm afraid I can't do that Dave.
If we sign him will he be the first double barrel surname we've signed ?? For some reason I'm picturing a little short-arse midfielder but can't remember his name.
