Anybody else heading up to Coventry for this years Goliath tournament? Guaranteed prize pool of £1.5 million.
Only card game I've ever learnt or played is Black Jack. Poker has always interested me though, seems a massively competitive scene.
Seriously considering it if I can win a ticket via a satelite. I've spoken to a few people who went last year and they seemed to enjoy it, but one of them said to me "they call everything". Not sure if that's down to players wanting an early big stack due to the fast nature of the competition and willingness to rebuy, but with the amount of entrants and fairly quick blind structures I'd say so. So with that in mind, would one ticket be enough?
I just go with the one buy in but go later in the week. As people can rebuy multiple times I have found that a lot (not all) of the bingo boys have done their money by then. Lots of recreational players and the standard varies from very good to woeful. If I don't make it through I am sadly at an age where I can enter the seniors tourny for the over 50's. Whatever happens I will enjoy it, such a buzz. If you have never been I urge you to go. The biggest outside of the world series.
Over 50's? Sounds like a plan. I'll need to look into that a bit further. Regarding the bingo players, I don't mind them so much as with a bit a patience the odds nearly always fall in your favour with the inevitable all in call, (but why do they always seem to win the heads up when odds are 80% 20%)? One of the clubs I play in has more than it's share on certain nights of the week and I tend to gravitate towards those games but not as you'd expect, to take chips of the bingo players, but because those games are always so much more fun as these players do seem to like a drink and a laugh. I'm rapidly going off quiet poker
Was on the Sunday last year. Best to pre reg on line or at local Grosvenor casino to avoid the buy in queue at the cash desk.
Well, I went up yesterday with 8 mates from my poker league and 2 made it through. I was chugging along quite nicely until my KK was busted by 99 who hit a set on the river. Severely dented my stack and I went out about 7pm when Ak all in raise called by big stack in big blind with QJ, J on turn thankyou and goodnight. Still enjoyed the day and will be back next year.
Unlucky Andy, better luck next year. At least I know who you are now as I also read that on the facebook group chat for Steve's league. I saw that JY is through with a nice stack and I heard Niall had qualified earlier in the week. I'll let you know who I am next time I see you.
