The big lad in goal from Southampton. Supposedly WFC have enquired about a season long loan. https://readsouthampton.com/2018/07/01/watford-reportedly-make-forster-enquiry/ Watford have reportedly submitted an enquiry to Southampton over the possibility of signing Fraser Forster on a season-long loan deal. The Hornets are already well-stocked in the goalkeeping depart but according to the Daily Mail, the club want to replace the departing Costel Pantilimon with Forster on a temporary basis. Romanian shot-stopper Pantilimon is said to be closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest ahead of next season, with Watford boss Javi Gracia now making contingency plans ahead of the switch. It’s believed that Saints are willing to offload Forster this summer, either on a permanent on a temporary basis, and the reports linking Watford with a move could be of interest to the club. Southampton recently tied Alex McCarthy down to a four-year deal following his heroics for the club in the second-half of last season. The Saints are also understood to be negotiating a potential deal with Manchester City for England Under-21 international Angus Gunn, indicating that Forster is unlikely to have a future at St Mary’s.
Surely not as he is an absolutely shocking keeper. Assume they are just mixing up Foster and Forster.
Or we want both with Forster coming on loan as backup to Foster with PD as a three. If Gomes leaves, we will be losing two keepers at the same time with the Greek having gone back to Italy too. Start the season with PD as Number 2 and Foster or whoever we have as Number 1 gets injured in August and it would be a big ask for a teenager to come in and be our main keeper.
Forster is horrible. We must be getting desperate if this is true, and it would beg the question as to why not just keep Gomes or Karnezis for another season.
Maybe leaking news of this is a transfer ploy to show West Brom that we'll look elsewhere if they insist on such a high fee for Foster? Yep, I'm clutching at straws
I would immediately leave the beautiful tax haven of Monaco if I heard Watford were interested. Who needs Monte Carlo when you can have the Meriden?
How very dare you. FF is a legend and, according to some, should never have been sold. Wash your mouth out you naughty boy.
When he arrived from Celtic he had a great season and was really good up north, was in some England squads and had top six teams looking at him. He’s had a bad patch and lost his place as number 1 for the saints. Why this is seen as a bad signing by most I don’t understand. On loan for a year with an option to buy could be good for all. He rediscovers his good form with a change of scenery and we snap him up. He is **** and we send him packing English won’t take up a foreign place in the squad it’s a yes from me. He was being ridiculed by Soton fans before he was dropped. Very slow to get down to low shots. If we take him on loan, he either starts and we concede a hatful, or he's on the bench and we learn nothing about him.
An English goalkeeper allows room in the squad for another foreign right back too. Can never have enough foreign right backs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes agreed. If we loan out Dahlberg we should take a young english keeper from a lower league team, a bit like Burnley did with Pope. Not an experienced but poor and relatively expensive (wages wise) english keeper.
No so. On the way out he tripped over his own feet, flailed wildly at a bannister, missed and fell down the stairs. Taxi got fed up waiting and went without him.
Because he's been on a continual decline since his knee injury a few years ago. Since then he's struggled to get down to low shots and his overall game has tailed off. This isn't like Gomes where it was the club who was the reason why he struggled. He's a player who has had years to turn it around and hasn't because his body has failed him a bit and mentally it's taken its toll. I would be extremely surprised if he turned it round now. Ask any Saints fan and they'd tell you the same thing. https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintsFC/comments/8i04ay/can_we_all_show_some_love_for_alex_mccarthy/ As a back up? I can live with that. As a starter you're better off with Gomes.
Yes, his problem is getting down for low shots and it's been spotted. We scored our two against him away last season like that - hard, low shot into the corner from range. He's too much of a lump. He can't get down.
