surely you've heard of football manager?
footbal manager is a game for the pc, it used to be called championship manager before eidos and sports interactive split.
we could have a sub forum for iscussing tactics, players to sign, and how good ( or bad) we are doing (boasting basically)

If you play yahoo fantasy manager I have a league. Only one other member on it from here so probably not a goer for this season, but I play every year and will again run one next year. Maybe Admin could donate some vcash from their private collection as a prize.

brilliant idea. i need help though (not with management side of things) when i'm playin footy man my computer keeps saying 'footy man is running dangerously low on memory' then another message comes up 'footy man has ran out of mem and will now quit' any ideas on how i can get it back to normal?

I used to play football manager games on a ZX Spectrum :p I thought it was a forum type thing that I'd missed on the main boards. I like it. I need to work out the best way to setup the non footy forum now. I don't want to have more sections than currently exist so leave it with me, I'm working on it. Current thinking is to possibly drop/merge graphics with another forum.

my computers a bit slow too

bet you do need help with managing though ;)

Sounds like you are low on virtual memory... try adding another RAM board in your system.. mine has a total of just under a gig of RAM and though the puter itself is not the best it runs a treat.

have considered this. have some more questions sorry!
    a) will RAM be expensive?

    b) i've heard i will either need to put it in myself (which i have no clue about and i wud probably end up ruining my computer) or send my computer away for a few weeks to be installed?

your help is much appreciated, thanks in advance;)

Ram boards dont have to be very expensive at all... about £20 i think the going rate is for a reasonable one... to fit is very easy.. when you open your system look by the MB for something that looks like what you get and there will be an empty slot next to it.. make sure you put it in the right way around but it will only be accepted one way... the white holders have to click in place then hey presto turn it on... RAM upgraded.

Fantastic idea, I play it all the time on the pc and xbox 360 :)

I play it on my pc with 256 Meg memory and not have any problems, though I don't run any other programs while I am playing it.

Though over the past few months been playing it on the xbox 360

OK, I intend to rename the Arcade forum into "The Games Room". That can serve as a forum in it's own right, but also inside there I can have sub-forums called "Arcade", "Football Manager" etc etc. So if there's any other games that are hugely popular they can be added. Tried this on the test forum and it looks OK.

    How does that sound?

Unless I get any better ideas I'll get it done this evening. Plus any other suggestions for sub forums inside "The Games Room" can be added at the same time.

I just found the thread on the man boards and it's certainly a popular game.

I have made a decision. I am going to call it Harry's Games Room, unless I get a better suggestion. Sorry I didn't go with yours wfchornet2, but that doesn't mean don't keep coming up with ideas ;)

how much was it for your gig of ram? what will the mother board look like?
    thanks again;)

the PC came with over 512gb and the board my nephew got cost him about £20 that was i think about a 528 or something.
The motherboard is the board everything plugs into... cant miss it.. big flat panel with loads of soldered connections on it.

just went into system properties in control panel it says that my pc only has 192gb of ram!!! that is way tooooo low. 2 final questions
a)is that the problem(192mb of ram) + will that solve my footy man needs?
    b) would you definatly recommend me buying a gig of ram and installing it myself?

    thanks a million;)

almost certainly.. most games require a minimum 256mb of ram... buy at least a 256 board if not a 528.. i would go for the 528

Looks like you've got an integrated graphics card which is pinching some of your 256Mb of system RAM. You'll need to pop the case open to see how many memory slots you've got free. My computer has got a gig and I've never suffered memory probs, do quite a bit of imaging & video work as well. I'd recommend another 512Mb if you have space some motherboards don't like 1Gb modules and if you've only got 1 slot free it's probably a bit of overkill. I still play CM4 and it is a huge cpu hog as well even on a 3 GHz HT I'd still like more.

it's worst than what you think hornmeister, i only have 192mb of ram not 256.would that lack of RAM also be the reason for the graphics in my flight simulator game not loading properly as hornmeister said earlier as the game is concentrating on absorbing RAM rather that the graphics?

oh sorry, i understand now. i have 256mb of RAM but the graphics card is eating into thatamd so, leaves me with 192mb. apologies. still need your advice though on my previous question, thanks;)

Typically integrated graphics cards are very basic. Games especially (but not footy managers) need a lot of graphics processing power and this is generally handled by dedicated chips on expensive graphics cards. Integrated cards done have these dedicated chips so tend to rely on the computer processor that slows the rest of the machine down. That's why a graphics card costs 3 or 4 times more than a whole motherboard. If you play a lot of graphics intensive games it may be worth popping a new graphics card in and switching the integrated one off - this is usually easily doen in the bios set-up menu. That would also put you back up to 256Mb available RAM but still worht putting an extra 512Mb in.

but up until a month or so ago, the graphics worked fine, but then they hardley loaded at all and i get 'memory' problems. are they linked?

unlikely unless you now have a hardware prob. More likely a software or driver issue. It's sometimes worth doing a reisntall of windows every now and then. As long as yuo don't format your hard disk you'll keep all your files folders & programs.
