Filippo Giraldi - Head Of Player Recruitment

• Upon conceding the third goal Giraldi could clearly be heard shouting in anger and moved immediately to be behind the dugout.
• Eric Roy joined the drinks break huddle for the first time.
• Morcillo then seemed to actively be involved in making the subs after consulting Giraldi each time, making the hand signals to the coaches that universally are know as ‘sub’.
• Exasperation when Mullins didn’t make them immediately.

 

Beyond farcical.

I'd love a "Giraldi Out" banner at the next game, but covid-19 has come at the right time for Gino and his circus.

 

If that fat parasite is still at the club next season they can kiss goodbye to my support. I’m sure I won’t be alone in that sentiment.

Mullins and Stack should walk and expose the terwat for all he is!

We as Watford fans are far too polite and passive. It's about time we caused some real change, how do we get this man out of our club?

It FINALLY makes sense why every manager that we sack is forced to sign a gagging order and told to never go to press about their experience at Watford. They know how underhand their methods of running this once great club are.

 

The 'mystery man' interview on the Athletic the other day was clearly Gracia.

It's no surprise that he was dumped off shortly after he blocked entry to the dressing room to certain people.

 

Its a shame Pearson didnt punch Giraldi, his involvement cant be good and was he really surprised City scored a 3rd, they score goals for fun against us

That article is a scary read.

Giraldi should be gone by this time next week at the latest. If Pozzo doesn't think this is necessary and in the best interests of the club then he should go too.

 

We need a new focus, and a complete reset. A new technical staff is the start of this. Giraldi has proven to be unfit for purpose, and so he must go. I don’t think he will, but it’s what must happen.

If we are to continue believing coaches are dispensable, then we need an identifiable style of play, which players and coaches are signed to fit. We need younger players, hungry to improve and earn the chance to play at a higher level.

Hindsight shows we should have sold Doucoure when he reached his max value, and reinvested the money to improve weaknesses. I think it also sent the wrong message to players. Our selling point is realistically to be a finishing school for players, a stopping point before a move to a bigger club. Sell at the top and reinvest. Nobody expects every transfer to work out, but we need a much higher success rate for players who contribute weekly, and who are sold to bigger clubs.

I don’t have any hope this is going to happen though. It’s not changing.

 

For a model which identifies young up and coming players to sell on for big bucks, we've really not sold on many players, only really been Richarlison and Lukebakio (who never really felt like 'our' player anyway) who have been moved on for any significant fee

 

What I really don't get is this, if Giraldi supposedly has so much say on matchday matters, how come they're moaning at managers' tactics and not using young players? Surely if the powers that be wanted to, they'd just do it?

 

What’s bizarre is supposedly Gino and Giraldi were furious with Pearson after WHU because of the subs, tactics and refusal to play more youth.

Fast forward a few days, Giraldi and his pal are passing notes and trying to influence matters more directly - but the subs and tactics were largely identical?

Nothing at all makes sense from the club.

 

You could sense the apathy amongst the fans in the stadium on Thursday.

 

There’s another part of this I’d not really considered too much until now. Putting myself in the shoes of an established player like Pereyra or Capoue, I wonder how they feel about being instructed from above by a complete no-mark like Giraldi, who has no genuine experience, nor has he proven himself at a high level in the game. No doubt there are players who like him, because he likes them, but it’s not hard to imagine there are players who feel disrespected/above taking tactical instruction from a glorified scout.

We’ve all seen stories before of mad chairmen undermining the manager and trying to pick the team, and heard about how it creates divisions and undermines the culture in the dressing room. I’d only really considered how Giraldi undermined the coaches, without thinking about how tinpot and unprofessional it must feel to the players themselves.

 

While I know what you mean, and don’t disagree - I don’t really care how the players feel. If we were going down fighting I might. But they themselves are an embarrassment and should look at themselves before they start pointing fingers elsewhere.

That’s not a defence of Giraldi I should point out.

 

Yeah, all fair points. It’s obviously the culmination of years of mismanagement and meddling from above, much like us as fans, not hard to imagine some of them have just had enough.

Not a defense of the gutless, spineless scumbags that make up our playing squad, more a further damnation of the mess Giraldi and Gino have created.

 

Has he announced his starting line up or any team news for tomorrow yet?

Was about to start a petition for Giraldi to be fired. The first page stumped me as it could be all of those things.

Local - he’s ruined watford
Health - I’ve aged because of him and my heart is now operating as a 60 yr old instead 34.
Racial Justice - I can make it work
Human rights - he’s violated every watford fan somehow
Economic injustice - look at the catalogue of crap we’ve signed
Politics - I will get moose involved.

Not for much longer I hope, especially if what we have been hearing about his OTT interference in team playing tactics are to be believed.
