The first thing I thought of when this went down was 'Why USA?' and the next was 'How far will US DOJ reach?', and ultimately I decided our government will reach just far enough to please most, then a little bit more to make sure topiss everyone off. See if I'm not right...

Well, that was exciting. What happens when Blatter is arrested? How does succession work? Will Blatter have to resign or is their a mechanism for removal within FIFA?

All those little countries all love Sepp and their votes count every bit as much as the big boys, he certainly knows where his bread is buttered ... Never say never but he'll be well insulated from the corruption.

Now do we see Dyke pull us out of the WC or will he fall meekly into line? .... Is he a Lion or a Pu55ycat?

    I guess the answer's 'Meeeoooow!'

I think we should all follow Scotland's example, they have been boycotting the World Cup for years!

Considering Dyke's gone from 'Blatter is finished' to 'I can't see FIFA reforming under him' in a matter of hours, it's only a matter of time before he falls in line.

Just proves the swiss and the yanks are correct and have made public what we have known for years that FIFA is corrupt from top to bottom !

This is understandable. FIFA has done things for football in the third world (but not as much as it could have done if wasn't corrupt). And yes, the Zambian delegate is quite correct. Corruption in the fully-fledged democracies of Europe and most African states are not the same thing at all. Hardly surprising really.

But patience guys. This isn't the end game. FIFA as we know it and Blatter are going down sooner rather than later. Probably at a time of the FBI's choosing.

If Blatter gets arrested, I presume he'll stay on as FIFA president, like Mr. Bridger, still pulling the strings from the inside.

What I don't understand is how such an organisation is still allowed power, in any shape or form.

FIFA has less credibility than the Monster Raving Looney Party, yet they're still going to make decisions on world cups and other competitions?

I think that today's vote shows that the organisation is rotten from top to bottom. No reform is possible. You can't root out bad apples if there aren't any good ones to replace them or to do the rooting.

FIFA needs replacing. End of story. I don't know how or if that could happen, but I don't believe that there will be any day when FIFA returns to being an honest organisation with genuinely altruistic ideals about football and global unity.

Maybe the other 'Big Ears' is writing a 'spidery scrawl' letter to the Minister for Culture and Sport as we speak. Geddin there you 'Big Ears'.

I totally agree and until blatter is dismissed then all fans of international football should boycott all international games ,to increase pressure on corrupt Fifa and to encourage more countries law agencies to take an interest!

If FIFA crumbles, and the World Cup is abolished, I'm not sure whether I'd be happy that we had the same number of world cups as Brazil/ Germany etc
Or sad that our trophy count would be zero, and would stay that way for the considerable future.

The bare faced cheek and gall of the man is breathtaking. If only the rhino had as thick a skin as Blatter it would be thriving now instead of facing extinction.

Might as well follow the Sybil Fawlty route and leave a garden gnome in charge!

Or 'poach' Blatter and cut off his 'horn' for the benefit of Chinese medicine.

My wife once left a garden gnome in charge for a bit when I was out of the country. Not a lot had changed when I got back.

The danger is when you leave a Swiss gnome in charge of football..

Nothing is proved .... and Blatter wouldn't have got re-elected if there was a shred of damning evidence against him.
The British media have got you all believing he's running the Mafia from his drawing room but the fact is that it's a huge organisation spread over a wide area with lots of people running their own agenda's alongside Fifa's.

Because he reacted hostilly to the media led sting operation it doesn't make him an arch enemy. If you weren't all such Murdoch sheep you would clearly see it was The Sunday Times that cost us any chance of that WC bid.

It is true but when Scotland did qualify they did at least have a go and provided some entertaining games* such as Holland and THAT goal by wee Archie. Yet time after time when England qualify I get excited for a day or so and then realise we will almost certainly be shown up as average at very best and go out having been as aggressive and pleasing on the eye as the little old lady in 'The Comfy Chair'.

    * Iran,Peru and whoever else it was apart!

Interesting point of view you have there. You like a Blatter then? Think he's done a decent job? The families of 1200 dead and counting constructing the World Cup infrastructure in Qatar possibly think otherwise. Backed by Putin, nice endorsement. Slavery is alive and well in the world of FIFA!

'Baaa' as General Melchett would say.

I don't suppose the ST helped matters much but I would wager I have as much chance of beating Serena Williams as we did of winning that bid, before Rupert's boys stepped up.

Blatter worked as Have-a - lunch's secretary I believe for a number of years,I suspect he picked up a trick or two there.

Is it? ... I was in Germany when the ST story broke, the first thing every German I know (including the women) remarked was that it would cost us the World Cup while all the numpties over here were claiming it would win us the bid!

We had a very good chance up till then but received one solitary vote. All because (and you know damn well) those little federations vote the way Blatter expects them to vote and he was extremely and visibly riled, that much was as clear as day!

If you think it's twaddle then please explain the result.

And before that - SB was our great ally?

Have you not read about the alleged corruption involved in the bidding process? Do you think that might have allegedly made more of a difference than the press finding out the truth?
