Not exactly a long list is it? I believe the tennis player Amélie Mauresmo came out as well but still shows that there must be a lot more who are yet to. Hopefully the positive way that both Davies and Thomas have been particularly accepted recently with their team mates and opposition players will make it easier in the future, beforehand, Thomas was the only current professional male athlete in a team sport who is openly gay. There is a film in development now about his life with Mickey Rourke set to star.

 

Does Thomas have a wrecked face, too?

I don't imagine they think it 'reflects badly' - its pragmatism, they don't want years and years of abuse and hatred.

 

In the real world, at least the one I inhabit, it simply doesn't matter a jot. People accept me for who I am, except Mrs. Moog who wishes I'd told her I was a gay before we got married.

I just think sports, especially football, are about 3 decades behind the rest of the country, or is it different outside of London? Certainly I'd expect nobody to blink at a gay man in a London pub. Maybe it's different Oop Noorth or elsewhere in the country, I don't know.
