We have approached Everton regarding a loan deal for Fabian Delph according to a reporter on SSN. They were talking about England U21’s and Tom Davies and whether Everton would look to let him go before Friday - and the reporter said it was his ‘understanding’ they were more likely to let Delph go and Watford have enquired in the last 24hrs. Could see it. Can play in CM or in those left-sided positions. Leadership and experience qualities as well.
I spoke to my in the know friend from the countryside. According to the Delph hick Oracle, this is indeed, on the cards.
Would be a good signing but CM is probably our strongest position with Hughes/Capoue coming back in. He's played a fair bit at LB too though for City which is a bonus.
Would he be happy to carry on playing out of his natural position I wonder? Or would he only drop down a division and play with us losers if he can be the main man and strut around in CM?
Lol another injury-prone player. **** me. Do we not learn? Janmaat, Welbeck, Cleverley & Kaboul. Why do we think they'll suddenly be able to stay fit when they come to Watford? If anything our medical department has proven itself to be below average! I just don't get it.
Didn't realise he'd had five separate injuries/illnesses that kept him out last season until I read your post! I take back my earlier enthusiasm for this signing and am now in your camp.
Good player. Guessing we would only pick up a proportion of his wages. At least if he gets crocked we could end the loan.
One of the best midfielders in Europe on his day. He wouldn't have been at Man City if he was rubbish you know. What an unbelievable coup this would be. I'd say we'd be looking at 100 points MINIMUM. Bound to stay fit for the long difficult stints as well. Him, Saliba and Rockman. What a week for Gino and the team!
Prefer Teletext over Oracle myself. Live score updates. Magic. If you can wait for the right page to come around.
In all seriousness, while Joe Bennett wouldn't be the most glamorous signing, we do at least need someone like him. We have enough central midfielders (if anything we could do with a more creative player, but Delph ain't it). Not exciting in the slightest, but eh, I'm preparing myself for a fair few of these given we've got numbers to make up
I have said we could do with a team of Ken Semas, and positionally Delph is very similar. Get him in!
My problem isn’t his ability, he’s certainly a good footballer. Anyone who’s seen Man City’s “All Or Nothing” series via Amazon will know he’s a leader and will be good in the dressing room. However the problem is, how often will he be fit and available to play? You could have De Bruyne at the club but if we was only fit for 15 games out 46 would you get promoted?
Don't you mean Ceefax? Teletext was the generic name for both that and Oracle (ie those were two different teletext systems). In other news, I am 178 years old.
If course I do. Thanks. Sorry, work is distracting me from the forum today. I'll try and prioritise better tomorrow.
Well they're paying 50% of Walcotts wages at Southampton so guaranteed to be picking up a good portion. Delph can also cover at left back so maybe that's in their thinking. His injury record is a concern though.
At Championship level is excellent. Would need to arrange a schedule with Tom Cleverley to make sure they alternate the timings of their injuries.
If we’re loaning someone from Everton would so much rather go for Gordon or NKonkou who are younger, on much lower wages and are in the positions that we need. Delph is a good player when fit and likely to be very expensive, even if Everton covered 2/3 of his wages.
Yes. But they may be seeking more consistent first team action on loan. A reasonably reliable Reading ITK says they’re after Gordon.
It's a no from me. We have players in his positions and paying oft injured oldies got us into this position in the first place.
There’s a Danny Welbeck sized hole in the medical team’s hearts and Delph is just the man to fill it.
