Hope we sign him on a permanent basis.

I bet he doesn't hope thar! And we'll have a transfer budget near zero anyway.

The bizarre thing about our season is we’ve now got 13 goals out of Rajovic and Dennis combined, yet imo you’d be hard-pressed to name one really good match between them.

While they look about the same level technically, Dennis does look more likely to score as you don't have to place the ball right in his path from point blank range for him to score. Hard to see a way back into the team for Rajovic now, he looks like he's playing the Healey role these days

The only way we will get him is if we sell Asprilla for around £20m. I would do it.

Did you really just say that Dennis looks the same level as Rajovic "technically"?

  7. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

How many simple passes has Dennis mucked up this season? How many shots has be blazed over or wide? He's much more mobile, but technically he's poor

  8. NathWFC

But he's not technically poor. At all. We've seen evidence of that at a higher level. His touch, ability to carry the ball/dribble, his range and quality of finishing is absolutely lightyears ahead of Rajovic. We've just not seen the best of Dennis since his return due to form/fitness/confidence.

Rajovic is literally the most garbage technical footballer I've ever seen kick a ball for us, and to claim Dennis is on the same level as him from a technical standpoint may actually be the most insane thing I've ever seen on this forum, and that's saying something.

  9. Hairyfrog

It's also about the players around him, if they don't make the runs, get in position, read the pass, play the expected return ball etc. it can make a talented player look a bit poo.

As a wise man once said, it's hard to soar with the eagles when you are surrounded by turkeys.

That's pretty harsh to say that Dennis is about the same technically as the Raj. I agree Dennis has been poor at times and needlessly lost possession but imo he's way technically better than Raj.

Interestingly Dennis’s stats per goal are already better than Rajovic’s

Mileta Rajovic 10 goals, played 36, goals per 90 mins .51, mins per goal 177
Emmanuel Dennis 3 Goals played 11, goals per 90 mins .56, mins per goal 159

The closing down, the tackle, the turn and the finish from Dennis on Saturday were all technically beyond anything that we’ve seen from Rajovic so far. And that’s just one quick moment.

Quite, I don't think Rajovic could score a goal like that on his Playstation.

Agreed that moment proved what he is capable of. I think the point people are making is that his general play in this spell with us has not been great. He has clearly had the higher ability and that goal showed it, just not enough in this spell.

He is as frustrating to watch now as he was in the second half of the Prem season he had with us. We all know he has the technical ability to be a good player but he definitely does not have the attitude of a top player. It's the showboating efforts when a simple pass is on or trying to beat two players that are most frustrating.

Agree,,there is a reason he hardly started for Notts Forest last season and they let him go out on loan this one and I’m afraid we are seeing it on the pitch!

He’s had one golden half season in his career so far. We were lucky to be the ones to see it. I presume that was why he was so keen to come back. Will he ever repeat that ? Who knows…

But we’re now an awful team who aren’t good enough to be anywhere near promotion but also can’t even be bad enough to provide a bit of peril or excitement at the other end of the table either, so as much as him showboating a bit or not passing might be frustrating if there was anything remotely tangible on the line, what he provides in terms of the odd bit of skill here and there is the most exciting thing we’re likely to see for a while, so I’d say for your own good any everyone else’s, just enjoy it for what it is, and while you can.

I tend to think of them like Dennis thinks of his teammates, occasionally considers using them, but ultimately decides to try and avoid using for as long as possible

Actually, he can pass the ball harmlessly out of play all he likes if he charges down the resulting throw-in!

Dennis scored a brace at the Bernabeu in the Champions League. I can safely predict that Rajovic will never do that.

Dennis said after the match that he was suffering with his groin (insert own jokes here!) and only played on Saturday as TC persuaded him that his pressing could be crucial for the team.
Reaction: Dennis On Winning Goal In Birmingham Win - Watford FC
Leaving aside the large dollop of hindsight that he might be using there, he also explained his confident finishing. Let the goalie dive low and rifle it into the top of the net and 2 of his 3 goals have been exactly that. Technically similar to Rayovic? Err, I think not. The two are as similar as chalk and cheese. We've all seen a fully fit Dennis operate successfully in the Premier League even in a failing team. He's where he is now as Forest threw around mad amounts of money to create an over-sized new squad and Dennis was squeezed out by some bigger names/reputations.

It was a good bit of play to close the defender down and a decent finish.

    No one can deny that.

None of other strikers or even players would do that.

Bayo would have chased the defender down, won the ball and then would have hit the corner flag with his shot. Raj wouldn't have moved

Depends what you call making it, but he played in over 100 league games in Belgium, scoring 29 goals + 8 assists. Not bad at all
