I don't know anything about this player. Has potential is the word associated with him. So is lazy, stroppy, poor attitude and not a team player. Trawling the FC Koln/Club Brugges fan pages. Very poor. He makes Gray and Success look positively legends at Watford. More of a winger, than playing down the centre. This is a very odd signing, but very Watford. Let's hope it is not another dud.
It really is difficult envisioning this as anything other than another hopeless Belgian league transfer At least if we do end up being 20 points adrift at the bottom he might provide some entertainment, throwing boots around the changing room, p issing in Xisco's boots or going home in a huff if his spag bol isn't garnished correctly Honestly, the possiblities are endless. Even if he is a failure on the pitch, he might be a very entertaining player
Another 5 year deal ? And in talks with another striker . https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamLeventhal/status/1407086169301651457
I can't wait to get rid of the absolute dross clogging up our squad and wage bill. There's no way we are signing this many attackers without some leaving. Finally we will be free of Gray, Success and Penaranda. And then hopefully Perica and Deeney. Alright Troy isn't going anywhere.
You’re getting waaaaaaay ahead of yourself there. Let’s celebrate when they’ve gone and not until then.
An interesting signing. We know Gino has plenty of form signing players who never play for us but end up being loaned year after year around Europe. He could be one of those. That said, my guess is he is for us. He can play any of the front 3 positions, is really quick, technically decent. Maybe not first choice but could be an interesting option for the bench. If nothing else it’s good to see we are signing players for the 433 counter attack system instead of the old scattergun.
If, and it’s a huge if, aka never going to happen, but if we do sign one of Hauge, Cornet, Danjuma or Cabral, then we will be a nightmare for teams this upcoming season. Imagine, Any of those on the LW, with this guy in the middle and Sarr on the RW. All three interchanging throughout the match. Then the likes of Fletcher to run at tired legs and Deeney to bully them for the last 10 minutes. Yeah, we’re definitely winning the Prem. Easiest season we will ever have.
You have to ask yourself who would you rather see coming off the bench, some guy from Belgium who you've never seen play or Andre Gray and Isaac Success who you have seen play? That alone makes this a successful signing.
Yeah I’m loving this signing! Of course it could all go horribly wrong, but the more I read about him from people that have actually watched him, he has all the traits of being a massive player for us. With Giaretta speaking into him, Xisco being a father figure with the arm around him, I’m going to say it, this kid is keeping us in the Prem.
Niang? He was ******* unreal for us on his day! Played a big part in keeping us up that season, although I suggest two great games from Dennis won't be enough this time around...
Well, the good news is that if he's ****, we keep him for the winter, if he's any good, he's off. Yay!
Well I suppose they know what they're doing. His record is far from great. He's only 5'9" and doesn't have the physical presence of Ighalo says one write up. He does seem to have plenty of speed though, so perhaps he's suited to counter-attacking football. The most worrying thing I've seen is a claim he said he likes to turn it on in 'big' games, but isn't so worried about run of the mill regular fixtures. You do have to worry about an apparent big ego being further inflated by having been snapped up to play in the Prem, then running into the likes of scowling Street hood Gray, snidey Isaac and his seedy misdeeds and of course, the puff-pastry gang and Lords of the dressing room, Deeney and Rose, will probably bump him round with their bellies on his first day, just to assert their position.
No offence to Belgian football but a run of the mill fixture for Brugge is against Charleroi, whereas a run of the mill fixture for us will be Newcastle, Everton or Arsenal.
How about those glamorous ties at Burnley, Norwich, Palace, Brentford, Brighton, Southampton? You’re right, I bet this kid can’t wait to play under the bright lights of Turf Moor and show the world what he’s all about.
Oh! A signing to stop me telling anyone I know how large Danny Rose is. This is the only mildly positive thing I can muster at present.
Those 2 goals are hilarious. The first one was an accident and the 2nd one he fooled the goal keeper by almost falling over before recovering
I can't believe people are mocking those goals. I know it was against RM, so was hilarious for that reason, but he has real pace, and both those finishes were top quality. Maybe the first looked a bit clumsy but I think he meant to do that, switch the ball quickly between his feet, and the second, even though he stumbled, he still had the presence of mind to perfectly chip the keeper.
Not sure how TransferMarkt know, but they list the transfer fee as being £3.6m. I've not seen the fee reported anywhere, but it does seem a bit low to me.
There were lots of stories linking Dennis to Arsenal, Leeds and Southampton only a year ago. His value then was around £22m. It seems Arsenal had a decent bid rejected for him in January. REVEALED: Club Brugge rejected Arsenal offer for Emmanuel Dennis - Tribal Football I think he's raw and has some ego issues, but he's certainly quality. Not sure why so many have been less than enthused by this signing. For me, this has certainly piqued my interest. I think he could be quite an exciting prospect.
Where does it say that we are "in talks" with another striker?! It just says that "work on additional striker is ongoing" - that could be at any stage of the process, we might still be narrowing down the list of targets.
I'm with you. For that amount of money it's a gamble worth taking just by the massive amount of interest there was in him last Summer. I know zilch about the fella but as long as he can back up his attitude on the pitch I'm ok with it. Will be happier once we start shifting some deadwood.
Fwiw I’m not against this signing either, but let’s not pretend it’s something it’s not. He’s 24 so not that young anymore. This is just a budget version of signing Capoue, Peyrera or Gerri. A player with talent who has lost his way a bit and has some big question marks next to his name. It might pay off it might not, but people can’t complain if history repeats if we end up with a squad full of players just going through the motions and creating issues in the dressing room. This is not the ‘young hungry’ players Duxbury was describing in that interview, this is Peyrera lite.
I suspect this is very much akin to the Lukebakio deal in reality. Rated once, lost his way, picked up cheap to see if his head can be sorted out with us - if so, brilliant, we have a bargain on our hands…if not, we send him out on loan in 6-12 months in the hope he can switch on elsewhere and earn the club a good mark-up fee in 2 summers time. If that all fails, he falls into the ‘endless loan’ system for 5 years and we take the hit on whatever the fee/signing-on/wages are. The obvious (potential) difference is that Lukebakio was never brought in to be the upgrade to our forward unit that Emmanuel Dennis might be being earmarked for. It could be a really savvy move - but on paper it looks like he’s just another striker to add to our pen of current strikers rather than the one you look at and just know he’s the starting striker if fit. That’s what I think we need if we aren’t signing a Danjuma type player on the left. If we can get Danjuma or similar, I’m far more comfortable with Dennis and Joao Pedro being the main striking options through the middle.
