I have just read the Mail article. Is it correct? Hard to say. His reputation was very poor at his previous clubs and he had 'l do my own thing' attitude. The rumour was that Moyes didn't want to disturb his dressing room atmosphere and signing Dennis was a risk to that. He started well for us, but then got a sulk on and faded away. The Nigerian press always have an interesting view on Dennis. Good luck and best wishes to him at Forest. Ps: why are Forest without a shirt sponsor?
There is quite a worrying piece online about failed court cases, witnesses gone missing and threatened as we're the jury. Supposedly the fans sing you'll end up under concrete.
More than just going missing - I think 13 ended up being confirmed as shot with another 4 dying in circumstances which were deemed as "suspicious" There's a great long read on it here: https://newrepublic.com/article/159252/noor-one-vampire-ship-heroin-turkey-greece-corruption-scandal
Steve Cooper only ever seems to get plaudits as a coach so I reckon he could get a good tune out of Dennis.
Convenient that this sulk happened at exactly the same time as we appointed a manager who hated attacking
They couldn’t rearrange their expired deal with their old sponsor and are still looking for a new one. Doesn’t it look great, though?
In my experience, I don't think the Mail (yes I know!) would publish something like that unless it was very well sourced by more than 1 person so I would imagine there is truth in it.
Daily Mail has generally been pretty reliable for us. Although we don't see it on the pitch and from our perspective he seems to have been no issue re: behaviour, there must be some substance to this.
There’s at least one of our former players (who has time on his hands) who has links to the DM sports team. I’m not saying it’s this particular person, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it came from a player (or ex player)
It does. A real throwback. I was half expecting to see Peter Shilton stroll out wearing what looked like his gardening gloves.
It’s Sami Mokbel’s articles that are informed when it’s the Mail. If it’s not written by him - or linked by him on Twitter - then I’d say it’s lazy journalism.
Heard from someone who was on the Watford medical team last year that Dennis treats staff like crap. At the start of the season he threw litter at the feet of a cleaning lady and Deeney pinned him against a wall, telling him he was out of order. I wonder if that sort of behaviour went unchecked after Troy left.
The reason I liked him, even the virtue signalling premier league posers have stopped doing it, but we still labour a point long after it's become meaningless.
On the contrary, I think the kit looks fantastic without being sullied by some random betting company's logo, the bigwigs will understandably want some cash to help fund players mind you!
Which current player will out Dennis as a bad apple or egg in the next interview? Maybe Duxbury will get in there first..
I think you're agreeing with Willis if you re-read his post. It did look great to see a plain shirt, wish we didn't have a sponsor on ours
As someone who works in comms, i'd say they wouldn't publish such accusations without solid sources to back it up, regardless of the journo! This isn't something they would shove in an article willy-nilly because Duxbury asked them to.
I appreciate your job but they aren’t exactly posting exposé stuff and saying particular things as fact. None of it is vaguely libellous. And again, it’s The Mail. They do the exact thing you’re saying they wouldn’t do on a daily basis.
I agree. Journalists after all cultivate sources more successfully than the police gather intelligence through informants. They simply don't need to make stuff up about an average premier league player at an average club. I doubt beyond those interested in football at Watford and Nottinghamshire there is much interest in Dennis. Its hardly going to generate much interest. So why make it up. Likely someone has spoken over a pint and its got written up.
How much did we get for Dennis? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62764585 Watford boss Rob Edwards believes hanging on to forwards Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro will give staff, players and fans a lift. Watford sold Emmanuel Dennis to Nottingham Forest for £20m during the summer transfer window. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62761807 Forest have spent big on several players including attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves for £25m, striker Taiwo Awoniyi from FC Union Berlin and defender Neco Williams from Liverpool for £18m apiece, and forward Emmanuel Dennis from Watford for £13m.
We’ll only know when the annual accounts are published and reach no 1 in the bestselling fiction charts.
I think @Burnsy said we will receive an initial £15m rising to £20m with add-ons (with Forest taking care of the sell-on fee to Brugges)
Granted, we probably earned more money than we expected from other players (£8m for a player we probably weren't really expecting to leave in Cucho, and £6m for Samir for example), but a mere £15m for our star forwards, it's probably not a surprise we didn't spend anything apart from the Bayo fee
He's going to get pissed off not being a starter there and kick off massively, poisoning the dressing room and wrecking their entire campaign. And it's going to be glorious
