Not to me - he had 2 yrs left on his old one so the "group" was not in danger of losing him for buttons
How many had Deeney when he was signed ? Give some of the new signings a chance (I don't mean you Jumbolina) and they will prove their worth in time. Granted a couple may not but that always happens when a slew of players arrive at a club.
It certainly isn't as strong as it once was though. It has been overtaken by the Jupiler League. Belgian clubs have more of a presence in the European Cup competitions. Former strong clubs like Ajax get beaten regularly now in the CL/EL. The age group sides have been far from exceptional and any decent youngster runs abroad at the first opportunity. That's not to say the national team will struggle. They may well in time if nothing is done to improve their academies but like Argentina the loss of any gifted youngster does harm the level of competition as they are replaced by workhorses and players returning to end their careers. Berghuis himself said he needed a challenge. Clubs like Feyenoord may want to leave De Kuip and have a huge following but like Celtic for instance their presence in Europe is negligible from what it once was and they are not producing players as they used to.
And in a year from now? Clearly very good business sense to get a talented player on a long-term deal.
Yeah, fair, it isn't anywhere near as strong as it once was, but that's a pretty high ceiling to start with. My main problem with it is the implication that players from Dutch league aren't good enough/don't prosper for English teams, which is demonstrably rubbish.
It's not really like that anymore - you see, we now only hire a set of players to meet a certain aim during a short window of time. The powers that be expect this lot to achieve 17 - 15th. Upon finishing 15th, a new set are shipped in to achieve 14 - 11th place.
And there was me thinking my hopes of starting this chant were gone when we failed to sign Badu.
Of course I'll give Berghuis plenty of time - he looks a great prospect. Just not sure we'll see too much of him this season, especially if we add another winger.
Elvis Manu is on his way to Brighton. The Feyenoord winger is undergoing his medical at the moment. #BHAFC From what looks like Feyenoord's version of WatfordTalk. But not as good obviously :naughty:
The reason i have a high post count is because i like to engage in debates on here with other fans. You do know this forum accepts all football fans? Or are you a bit simple? Do yourself a favor and have a gander at the Championship table.
Yeah yeah but we're tearing up the premier league! Played 4 lost only 1! In your face scummy Brighton with your amazing ground and fan experience!
I like the banter Casket. It's so easy to wind up some of the mupets on here. Welcome anytime. Congrats on the season so far.
Impressive start. You will be a contender this season I have no doubt. Good luck, you are a side impossible to dislike.
Our setup is better. That's just a fact, no offense, The Pozzos are a world-class act & we're very lucky.
I like it when Caskey turns up because it's a memorable reminder of how grim things were compared to now. Congrats on the season so far n all that.
In all probability, our name was just used by the player's agent to drive up wage demands. Very good start though. When I saw you at the AMEX last season, you largely matched us and I thought the only real difference was the finishing. I got decent odds for you to finish in the play offs.
Oi, leave Caskey alone, he's old school, been posting on here for a while, always like his/her posts - usually very amusing....
