23 year old midfielder. Signed from Eupen until June 2026. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-kayembe-signs-on
There is a school of thought that if the Titanic had in fact hit the iceberg first, with all its might (head-on, rather than attempting to swerve and taking it down the side), then it wouldn't have sunk at all...
Been our best midfielder in the last two games and arguably our best player. Can't wait for Etebo to recover fully, he will add much flair and creativity to our midfield and unlike Sissoko and Kayembe, he can score from inside and outside of the box. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
Like the look of the little chap, he gets stuck in and can ping a ball. It's just a shame there was no movement around him again.
Very one-footed though when you watch him. Constantly trying to work the ball onto his left foot, sometimes at the cost of a quicker pass. Telegraphed nearly every pass. Suspect he’ll end up being neat and tidy but ultimately isn’t going to be one to worry opponents too much.
There was one very notable part towards the end of the first half where he received the ball about ten yards outside their box with his body angle slightly back towards our goal - if he'd been prepared to even attempt to play any kind of ball at all with his right, there was a wide open space with another attacker running into the box that would have seen us almost certainly have an extremely solid chance on goal, but instead he just didn't do anything - waited and let the opportunity go entirely as he pirouetted to shift position and be able to play it with his left. I'm by no means blaming him for anything last night, really, but even before it went fully down the swanee that moment stuck in my memory because it was so stark.
One of the rare positives yesterday. Looks very confident and he's comfortable on the ball and an excellent passer. Put in a decent shift defensively as well, I remeber that one counter attack towards the end of the match when him and Pedro were cbs and Cucho lb. I did notice he is very one-footed as well, something I didn't really notice in his first match (in that way he reminds me a bit of Tom Cairney at Fulham). If everyone played with the same attitude as him, Pedro and Cucho, we would have won the game easily.
To be fair you have claimed he’s a goal threat - when he has never been that since leaving Nigeria 7yrs ago.
Surprised by the lack of links to the Edo period in Japan. I've been impressed with him. Calm on the ball, competitive and composed. Bit one footed though as mentioned. All three new signings have done well despite the shambles around them and the odd error. Samir falling over and Kamara under the ball for the Norwich second.
That's only because most teams he has been playing for ever since he left Fereinse (Las palmas, Getafe and Galatasaray) have usually play him in front of there defenders or as box to box midfielder. He actually started out as an attacking midfielder usually playing behind the striker, and was well known for his flair, taking the ball from outside the box and dribbling past players into the box and scoring all by himself. He can also score from outside the box. Those are what I noticed about him when he played for Nigeria under 23 team at the Afcon and when he played for Nigeria at the Olympics where he scored 4 goals in Nigeria's first match and was linked with Chelsea before injury in the group stages cut short his participation in that tournament. Looking like another dud signing (especially considering we needed midfield reinforcements who could impact this season). Might come good in the long run, but the fact he can't get into one of the worst midfields in recent Watford history speaks volumes. So from our January window it looks like: Kalu - dud Kayembe - can't even get in the team, dud for now at least anyway Samir - looks as crap as the rest of our CBs, maybe he'll be decent in the Championship Kamara - started really well but a fair few worrying signs in recent games too. More excellent recruitment.
For me this is squarely on Roy's head. Nothing about what I've seen from Kayembe says he'd be a worst option than what Cleverley is offering right now.
Have to agree with this; I've not been overly impressed with Kayembe at all given how incredibly one-footed he is, but at the same time he was still an improvement on what we had or, indeed, didn't have, at the moment he came in, and he can at least pass a ball to a teammate and keep up with play. Don't get me wrong, it's another window of poor/lacking recruitment, but Kayembe is a Roy situation, I concur. Personally I think he's the player most likely to stay when we're down, because, what other option does he have? And, in that case, he might actually be pretty useful at that level.
They are good players. Most of them will look good in a better team or a team no battling relegation. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
He hardly shone at Stoke, especially when it became clear that Stoke weren't going to 'piss the Championship'
