Little highlight reel of him from Udinese vs Juventus in March this year.

Owned there back three in that game and he also won MOTM in that game.

I also watched him play against Palermo, Genoa, Torino and Inter. From what I saw he is extremely strong, quick for a big guy and gets fouled a lot because he holds the ball up so well.

His down side in those games was having a rush of blood and trying to do too much, score from 40 yards or hold onto the ball for to long.

However he would be well worth having here and the physicality of the Prem wouldn't be too much for him. When people say Lukaku is strong, Zapata is stronger in my opinion.

 

Compare that video to Ambrabat against Liverpool (and four or five others from last season); I'd rather have the Moroccan. If people think Ambrabat's final ball is poor, they're unlikely to be impressed with this guy. The goal is taken well, but in just about every other instance, as soon as there's a man on him his moment is over, and here at least, his play seems reminiscent of Amrabat's poor end to the season rather than a golden future. For a big guy he gets pushed off the ball and up ended an awful lot too (and that in Serie A), suggesting to me that he would struggle in the prem.

If he got man of the match I imagine it was more for effort and a decent goal rather than anything else.

Not impressed with this video, its a pity it didn't have the bits of him owning the Juve defense, other than for the goal, because other wise they seemed to completely remove him as a threat.

If you think he'd struggle physically with the Prem you clearly haven't seen him play enough. He's an absolute animal, stronger than Deeney and Okaka easily, can hold off 3 players at once and you very often see him winning balls he has absolutely no right to just because of his sheer power. Seen defenders literally resorting to UFC type tackles to get the ball off him.
He's no slouch either, once he's going he's pretty hard to stop.
His biggest downfalls are his decision making and end product.
Both not terrible but he does need 3 or 4 chances before he scores and will only get you 8-12 goals a season.
He's also very much like Niang in that he'll try and take on a whole team at once then shoot from 35 yard and sometimes it goes in...most often it doesn't.
I'd take him if the price was right, he's much more mobile than Deeney and would get more goals from open play.
Do think Destro would be a better option though and I like the sound of this Mounié lad too.

 

Whether or not we sign him I hereby challenge Troy Deeney to start next season adorned with a 'Zapata' moustache.

Also Zarate has his agent at Watford speaking about returning to Argentina.

 

Babacar to Udinese would suggest that the Okaka to Udinese story is dead. Would have Okaka and Zapata over Troy.

 

Seen him play a few times and wasn't really overly impressed. But he did run a very good Juve defence all over the shop. Is he a consistent type?

 

Hopefully he will be prolific and score a lot of double duvans.

 

Consistently ok with brilliant games thrown in. Like you say, there's probably better options for that kind of money but he's better than Troy and probably Okaka.

 

Sounds like his agent ( at least I think it's his agent) has claimed he will be playing in the Premier League.

The translation was so bad from the the Italian newspaper I couldn't make sense of it a part from some guy (assuming his agent) saying he will be in the Premier League and is perfect for it.
