Let's put this in perspective. For Ash we are getting TWICE what we are getting from Origin for selling half our ground.

ok £8 million is a lot and think about this, if we go down then someone like villa will pick him up for half that amount in the summer

I've said no, not because he is vital to the team, but because we don't neecesarily need the money and will have trouble getting quality in to replace him.
I do conceed that if I were running the club, I wouldnt turn down 10M as a business decision.

The thing is the money is too good to turn down, never in our history have we been in a stronger financial position, take the money 8 million , the parachute payment of 7 million and the remainder of the Premiership money and we have a tidy sum to invest in the infrastructure of the club.

I voted yes mainly as we can't really turn down that sort of money.

I would love to see him stay at watford but 1 player does not make a team.

I said no. Selling him is conceding defeat. So if we do, I want the dosh to be spent of building for next season. We won't get anyone near his ability for the cash - at least none who'd want to come - so Thanks Ash - nip off north, and we'll take the drop in style and come back stronger.

hope he goes, the money is to much to throw away! in my opinion villa are getting mugged off! if he plays like he has the past few games then the villa fans are going to be pretty peed off!

No, he should stay until the summer. He is our best chance of actually scoring a goal and our best hope of staying up, which a tall order now, will be almost impossible without.

For me the club is about watching good football. I don't care too much about cash in the bank. In any case we won't be able to spend it now and when we do it will be Ramon Vega and Allan Nielson all over again.

I am also worried that this sets in motion Aidy's eventual departure.

Never in my days have I known fans keen to sell their best player to relegation rivals.

Yea I think £8m is a great price for a largely unproven player at this level.

What would you do with the disused land? I mean, there's no way the football club can really utilise it and they would never have been able to afford to build residential buildings on their own (no way the business could justify such a non-football investment in my books).

WFC will sell very few players in the next 5 years for more than £4mil let alone £8 Million!!

I don't want him to go but for that money we can improve the team more than if he stayed. Let's just hope Aidy has all that to spend - and i would wait til the Summer before doing so rather than panic buy.

Hi UEA, you're right, I just don't trust that the ground will become a shanty town within 5 years...

I just hope Aidy gets most of that money to improve the squad next season (its too late now) and give us a good chance of bouncing back because at the moment it would look pretty unlikely.

Spot on! It's far too much to turn away! We all deep down know Ash isn't worth that much...don't get me wrong, he's a good bloke and he gives 150% week in week out...but to be worth £8,000,000 you need to provide moments of magic consistently at the highest level and be able to change games with individual brilliance! Ash could do this last season in the Championship (free-kick at Palarse), but hasn't done it this season when most needed!

It's win win for everyone! Ash gets the chance to play with better players and enhance his England chances, and we get £8,000,000 for a player that hasn't fully developed yet and could still fall away like Jeffers did at Arsenal (although I don't think that will happen)!

Great business for the club, and this money gives us a head start on most clubs next season to bounce straight back!
