Look on the bright side. Spurs have become the first club in PL history to have not signed a single player in the summer window. And we didn’t buy a load of useless Belgium squad offall at the last minute either.
I fancy top half of the table this year too. An awful lot of money has been spent on an aweful lot of **** that isn't significantly better or more consistant than what we have. And a lot of people on here are now extoling the virtues of very expensive missed signings they'd never heard before these last few days, and, more than likely, who Gino has still never heard of. I'm happy to save the cash if the right buys aren't out there. I believe that we will get our best PL finish this season, but if we were to go down, I'd rather we stand a chance of bouncing back than crashing in flames, like one of our new big spending rivals is going to do. Can I have that in cash please Gino?
We had a much worse squad in our first season in the Prem and we had our best points total. Very easy to sling money around, but that often doesn’t come off. Burnley had a rubbish side last year and spent very little, but made Europe.
Our coach is one of the most highly regarded in the prem. Vision is second to none and direction and drive are as good as anything else out there. That's what the best in-transit tv screens, the most powerful engine, and the hoopiest sat nav will get you now a days. And that's not even mentioning the comfy seats.
I'm going to cheer every single goal we concede like we've won the world cup until every Italian is out of my club.
Top and most knowledgeable pundit Paul 'Snorty' Merson has graded our transfers - just one question though...was Amrabat one of our best players last season? Watford: C Major ins: Gerard Deulofeu (Barcelona, £11.5m), Ben Foster (West Brom, undisclosed), Adam Masina (Bologna, £3.5m), Marc Navarro (Espanyol, undisclosed), Ken Sema (Ostersunds, undisclosed), Ben Wilmot (Stevenage, undisclosed), Domingos Quina (West Ham, undisclosed) Major outs: Nordin Amrabat (Al-Nassr, undisclosed), Costel Pantilimon (Nottingham Forest, undisclosed), Richarlison (Everton, £40m), Mauro Zarate (Boca Juniors, undisclosed) MERSE SAYS: I like Ben Foster, he's a top goalkeeper, but I really worry for Watford. I thought Nordin Amrabat was one of their best players last season, I thought he played well a lot of the time. Gerard Deulofeu, one minute he's great and the next, he's not. He's a five or a nine - you never get that consistent seven every week. Foster will save them points, there's no question, but I think they're in a relegation battle.
Thats the only doubt. Our first XI is pretty decent, if they stayed fit ( apart from strikers obv). So much is down to the manager, especially outside the top 6. Teams can hugely over perform in this league, with a decent manager. Jury still out on Javi Sangria. 10 points from his first 5 games, and then 5 from the next 9 games. Or to balance it... 10 from first 7 games and then 5 from next 7 games. My hunch is he will be sacked by Xmas, but so difficult to tell in this league.
The summer transfer window mirrored our last few seasons time in the Premier League, a promising start, looking good half way and then nosediving at the end.
Every season we are one of the 4 0r 5 favourites to go down from pundits and bookies alike. But we ve never looked like going down, even under Mazzari when we were 17 th, were effectively safe with 5 games to go. Personally I like that we are under estimated. It means I can make more money from the bookies. However, I won't be making a bet this season...unless I see Deeney and Gray firing on all cylinders on Saturday.
My son also thinks we've had a bad window, but he's 14 and thinks running and managing a football club is easy because he can do it playing FIFA. Which leads me to the conclusion that a few posters on here share the same traits. Can I also ask some of you if you listened to your Mummy and Daddy when they told you not to believe everything you read on the Internet?
Thanks. I do my best. Now you carry on moaning because as far as I can see you have done this at every opportunity for I don't know how long.
At least Harry Redknapp's happy with the business he managed to get done during this transfer window: https://twitter.com/DFImpressionist/status/1027620729918038016
I'm sorry but I'm fed up of reading the same old guff before the season has even started. Judge the transfers after you've seen them play. After 5 or 10 matches you can start making judgements. I agree that the Pozzos should not be beyond criticism but you caon't base your opinions on what you read on HITC or some other football gossip site. Finally, I also would have liked a new striker and central defender but your constant moaning has actually made me glad we didn't get one so the players we have can show they're not as bad as you think they are.
Which is your opinion which is fine. You are entitled to it. But notice that I, and as far as I’m aware, no one else has condescended you for holding that opinion before you decided to write up your bizarre post. As someone else said somewhere on another thread, peoples opposing outlooks on this window and differing opinions can live side by side. But there’s a couple of people on here who feel they need to back up their side of the matter with name-calling (bed-wetters etc) which is totally unnecessary. And for some reason you’ve joined in.
