Book your seats now for, perhaps, the highlight of the Tory party's descent into oblivion. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/mar/14/boris-johnson-to-give-televised-partygate-evidence
The gig's line up's looking really good: Boris Johnson may be only witness called in Partygate investigation Privileges committee rebuffs lawyer’s request to give evidence alongside former prime minister
The question is not whether Johnson will look bad, he will. But he’s a spent force. It’s more whether he can take others down with him. Like Starmer and Corbyn, a measure of success for Sunak will soon be how much distance he can put between himself and the disgraced former leader. Corbyn, true to form, has never trashed Starmer in return. I suspect Johnson won’t be so reticent. And let’s face it, Sunak was there, nodding Johnson on through all of his lies.
His set-list will be starting off with some very 'tricky numbers right from the start: Although 'the band' might split before the gig: Boris Johnson makes last-ditch bid to discredit Partygate inquiry Ex-prime minister due at televised Commons committee hearing, with legal team about to publish new evidence backing his claims
Starmer employing Sue Gray was a mistake imho. I think she has behaved independently and honestly throughout the whole affair. But her being given a job within the Labour party has muddied the waters and given Johnson supporters a reason (unfounded) to question her impartiality and therefore her report findings. Whatever happens now Johnson and his supporters will cry foul and too many people will believe them.
He's a disgusting piece of you know what. He really ought to be in jail for his actions. Nasty self serving turd.
An, ABSOLUTELY, impeccable source has weighed in with his £30bn 'valued' opinion: https://www.theguardian.com/politic...r-rule-out-boris-johnson-leading-tories-again
This is priceless: "I can't answer that question verbally as I have already submitted a thorough written response...." Boris Johnson set to submit Partygate dossier, saying he didn’t deliberately mislead MPs Now the narrative will move onto "But, he wrote that..."
I've just read this: What sanctions could Boris Johnson face from Partygate inquiry? And this just caught my eye: Am I misremembering it - but when De Pfeffel threw his hat into the ring, for a second bit at the cherry, he didn't get anywhere near the 100 nominations required (just over 20 springs to mind?
Well, well, well the 'source' of the huge number of nominations that De Pfeffel received was De Pfeffel: https://www.theguardian.com/politic...ory-leadership-race-avoids-likely-humiliation
Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies. It is a question of priorities, which most of his colleagues have no difficulty in sorting out. Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half). I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else .” Martin Hammond - Master at Eton. I didn't know I was a liar. It's somebody else at fault. I'm an idiot.

How much of our taxpayer money was given to Johnson so that he could defend himself? It's bizarre if this is the best that a top notch legal team could come up with.
The estimate was £220k. Let’s not forget this isn’t the first time he has used the bank of tax payer for legal advice (or to set up a daft inquiry to tell us what we already knew) as a result of his poor acquaintance with the truth.
Something that De Pfeffel did early on, when the whole partygate affair came to light, was stop using the word "...rules...." (when talking about the lockdown/social distancing) in his verbal ******** fests and replacing it with the word "...guidance...". In his risible 'statement' (a pathetic attempt to control the narrative before the release of all the committee's documentary evidence this morning before today's session) he real dials the obscurification dial up to eleven with doing the same throughout AND by introducing the phrase "...The Guidance..." to mean something else: His team are really trying to muddy the waters - just remember he is in front of the committee not for "partygate" but wilfully and recklessly lying to parliament about it. Regardless of whether he gets done for this - he is finished. This whole process is a political master-stroke for Starmer: if the Tories had refused to vote (or voted against) the original motion they would have been seen to be shielding De Pfeffel (and the political repercussions of this). Whatever happens today is going to be a massive 'hit' taken by the Tories. Why the fark the ludicrous buffoon didn't resign when he was originally de-fenestrated is beyond me...
If he gets suspended for 10 days or more, then he can get recalled and voted out. I would suppose he will get suspended for between 7 to 9 days. Time for another holiday or well-paid speaking dates perhaps? Not enough to represent any threat to him. In fact I hope he doesn't get kicked out. The country has wasted enough time on that over-priveliged fool already and there are many problems to sort out. If he gets dismissed he will just follow the Trump model and shout from the sidelines and be a distraction. Been silenced by the wokerati y'know. A martyr. The best hope is they let him off and he slides into well deserved obscurity and a history footnote.
Ooooops: Simon Case denies telling Boris Johnson Covid rules were always followed Top civil servant also says he is unaware of anyone else in Downing Street giving Johnson such assurance over Partygate
I'm so bored of Boris bloody Johnson. I'll find out the result later, there's no way I'm going to spend the afternoon watching him and po-faced Harriet Harman go through their song and dance routine
De Pfeffel "...if you look at what Sue Gray has to say...." SBJ: "But we're not relying on Sue Gray's evidence - isn't that ironic?"
He's exactly the same sort of character as Tramp and Bollocknaro. Self serving, lying, shameless and clueless. Trying to make himself look a victim. No doubt the morons that still adore him will regard this all as a disgusting attack to vilify an innocent man who did his very best for the nation at large. He should be locked up and forced to give an apology to all those who lost someone during the pandemic. And banned from ever holding political office again.
