I'm interested to know if he was sacked - there hasn't really been an official word on that. United stance is that he has "left the club" do the Glazer's have more money than sense?

He was a complete plonker replacing the whole of the training staff in one big sweep. That was the monumental error.

The Man Utd brand has taken an absolute pounding under Moyes, so had to be done.

Would be ashamed to be a United fan. Moyes has been let down by the players like RVP, Ferdinand, Rooney, Fellaini, etc.

The experienced pros just simply havent put in the effort this season and they have let Moyes take the blame. Absolute joke of a club

Word is he had a clause in that they could release him with no payoff if he failed to deliver Champions League qualification, which is now mathematically impossible.

Interesting. I feel it was stupid to give him 6 years anyways, just like Pardew has 7 at Newcastle. Things change. The players have a lot to answer for in all of this too, especially ones that had been at the club for a while. They've basically made Moyes look weak and taken advantage of Ferguson not being in charge any more.

    Mixed feelings on this one

Got to think that players let Moyes down, reminds me very much of the situation at leeds when Brian Clough took over from Revie and took exception to his methods.

Do think though that Moyes wrong in not keeping some of the coaching staff and negative with his tactics

I think United have been naive to the fact that after 25 years plus of the same manager, same training methods, same coaching staff etc etc that things will inevitably have an adverse effect on the results.

That said, changing all the coaching staff in one fell swoop was a bit mad.

I believe making the Vidic transfer public knowledge was silly.

I believe saying that Van Persie was the main man was ludicrous.

In my opinion, giving Moyes until Christmas would have been fair. He would have had a full pre-season to get the players he wanted (I know he had pretty much two full windows, but he has had a season of seeing the **** player he had).

I think that he didn't really have a tactical philosophy. Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal do.

Ferguson was extremely clever in leaving when he did. He knew the **** that was left in the squad.

I'd have liked to see what he'd have done with a full preseason under his belt.

Hard to find any logical reason for keeping him. He's been tactically outclassed on a number of occasions this season, not just by the big clubs, but by plenty of the smaller ones as well. In the last 3-4 months, there has been nothing to suggest that he's even making any progress, let alone offering genuine hope that he's capable of continuing the success that they've come to expect over the last 25 years.

I don't understand how the players have supposedly let him down. His job was to come in and lead them. If he wasn't good enough to get the players to buy into his plans, then that's on his own lack of genuine success. He made himself look weak, not the players.

His transfer strategy has been massively flawed, failing to solve obvious issues. Even the signing of Mata smacks of desperation because there's not an obvious way to fit him in the team and play him in the role that saw him become one of the best players in the country over the last couple of years

It's a shame that he's gone, because it was pretty hilarious to see the empire crumble. But Moyes is 100% to blame - not the players and not the fans - those who try to claim otherwise are probably letting their personal distaste for Man Utd cloud their judgement.

It'll be interesting to see whether the Glazers use this to begin slowly eroding the Ferguson influence though, given that he chose Moyes. Now that decision has proven to be an epic failure, the fans will be a lot quicker to ignore his opinion in the future.

When Dyche ends up at Man City and Zola at Chelsea, we'll have the top 4 managed by ex-Watford managers.

Rodgers is 150/1, Mackay is 250/1, Dyche is 500/1, all with Sky Bet. Can't see Boothroyd on the list, though.

250/1. That's the same as Juande Ramos, Steve Clarke, Malky Mackay, Felix Magath, Gerardo Martino, Roy Hodgson, Cesare Prandelli, Nigel Clough, Alan Pardew, Sven Goran Eriksson, Johan Boskamp and Zinedine Zidane.

    Agreed a good move.

ManUre should have sacked some of their players rather than Moyes. I can't see any serious career manager wanting the hassles with that job now.

Agreed. The United players have a lot to answer for this season. I hope they don't get off scot free, the primadonnas.
