11/4/07-http://watford.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=898&p=2&stid=8443802 Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd has revealed he's been turned down by former Vicarage Road star David James, the Portsmouth goalkeeper. James began his career at Watford 19 years ago before joining Liverpool in 1992, and Boothroyd could not resist making a cheeky request to bring back the 36-year-old England international to Vicarage Road. Boothroyd said: "I asked David James if he fancied finishing his career here. " He has had a lot of stick in the past, but I think he is a terrific goalkeeper, and the fact he is going for a record clean sheet is a real credit to him. " He was very kind and complimentary about us last year. " His answer? You wouldn't be able to print it! We would have to sell the club and the chairman (Graham Simpson) and I would have to busk."
