Hmm, well I’ll let this one go as I feel there’s too much negativity on here, and as I say this is a good signing, but seems odd to miss pre-season with your new club if you’re desperate to make the team, he’s playing catch up. BUT I don’t know why it’s happened this late in the day so as I say I’ll forget that now. Really looking forward to seeing him play for us.
I think its pretty clear that he couldn’t sign for us before Aug 1st as he’d be in breach of contract/or doing himself out of a months worth of wages - which was likely about 500k.
Hopefully and probably more to do with the first part and not the 2nd part of what you've put. Happy to accept that.
Happy with this. Capable of playing up front by himself, and able to receive the ball into feet, or into the channels. Brings a good pedigree and work ethic, having worked under some top managers, not to mention versatility across the front line. If we can keep him fairly fit, while not necessarily being an out and out goal scorer, I think he’s got the potential to be a really good focal point for our attack.
I usually have no problem at all, but I'm finding it really hard to hate this fella. I'll get there though, just might take a bit of time.
Looks like Everton tried to get Welbeck at the last minute, according to this guy. Duncan CastlesVerified account @DuncanCastles 6m6 minutes ago On top of a series of rejected late-in-the-window bids for Abdoulaye Doucoure, understand that Everton attempted to sign Danny Welbeck yesterday before he completed a long-planned move to Watford. Such a convivial relationship between the two clubs...
Just shows how tinpot Everton really are (not that we didn't know that already), players choosing us over them - first Doucoure and now Welbeck We SiGn wHo We WaNt
Welbz wanted to join a fairly massive club, and while Everton have won nothing prestigious lately, Watford have won the Graham Taylor Trophy. That was the clincher.
If he can stay fit, with our decent midfield and finally a decent premier league class striker I think we can believe and hope that we might be on the up
I think we all knew DW isn't currently fit but the BBC right up for tomorrows game suggests he is out with a long term ankle injury! Is that previously long term or future long term?
In 30 years time people will be looking back on this historic signing in our history. If you are reading this post in 2049, hit the like button & subscribe.
I've changed my mind, this man can be our saviour. He can be solely responsible for getting Deeney, Gray and 4-4-2/4-2-2-2 gone, and that alone would make him a fantastic signing.
A worrying sign that Welbeck's best mate at the club seems to be Chalobah - do they anticipate spending a lot of time sitting next to each other in the treatment room?
Interesting that at 2:53 they seem to be measuring for any muscle imbalances - seems the club's medical department is learning something at least.
You would need to be extremely bored at work to go back 30 years into the WFCF archives but I wouldn't necessarily rule it out.
Why not ? I’ve been busy with my summer project of locating the Forum archives from 1881, so I can find out the first ever post and what Moogs “Ground Zero” alter ego was .
Plenty of time to do it then as nobody will have a job, everything will be run by AI and everyone will be a very long time retired.
With Welbeck signing, we now have four ex Man U players in our squad, Foster, Cathcart & Cleverley being the others
There was nothing 'up the road' until 1885. A quiet bedding in period for the forum. Desultory comments about the team's choice of headware for the coming season & some laboured puns on cheese or opium or similar.
