I don't claim to be in the know. Please don't shoot the messenger! anyway, my mate, a Leicester city supporter has just rang me to tell me, he has just seen Danny Graham coming out of Leicester's-training ground. He claims it's not a wind up. Gutted if true.
He will be on a huge whack as a Prem player and with 2 years left on his contract there is no way we would ever have afforded him anyway.
Leicester are making some very odd signings. I would love DG to come back here but am might surprised if a PL team are going to sign him. Has barely scored a goal in that division for two years. To be fair I didn't think we would get him as thought he was going to Boro
Be very surprised if Leicester would want a striker who is a proven non scorer in the prem, certainly behind Vardy, Nugent and possibly Woods . I'd say us and Boro is his level. I'm not sure if he's a home boy like Hogg but if so sure Boro would get his signing ( if they actually want him as I know they were after Grabban )
Nugent is also a proven non-scorer in the Premier League. Vardy and Woods are unproven. Graham had one good season there, at least.
Any further rumours on this? I'd love to see him back but Sunderland are going to want some of their money back as well as getting him off the wage bill. I'm surprised they paid £5m for him in the first place and I would imagine they will want to re-coup at least half of that.
Interesting to think back on this rumour after reading Paul Robinson's interview in the Wobby where he says that just after the Pozzos took over it was leaked to the press that they wanted to re-sign him despite him saying that there wasn't really much in it and suggesting that the Pozzos wanted to be seen to be trying to sign old Watford legends to get a bit of positive PR and show signs of maintaining the identity of the club.
In other striker news david goodwille has just been paid off by Blackburn rovers 3 years after the club paid £2.8m for him. Wasn't that the guy MM was desperate to sign for us at around the same time. Swerved a biggi there!
Today's daily mirror says we want him back to partner vydra!! Surely only likely to happen if deeney is sold but if he did come that would possibly be the strongest pool of 4 centre forwards in the clubs history.
Graham wouldn't want to be hear. He'd be waltzing around the pitch daydreaming of that time he scored at Stamford Bridge. It's a no from me.
