Good old vital football have come up with a great story that Sunderland are about to offer £5m for Marlon ! About as true as Spurs being a big club !
:sign1::sign12: No seriously, I've just wet myself:-[ £15M Maybe. We don't want to sell, The King does not wnat to go.
They've given up on Nugent so I bet there is some truth in them being interested, but that site has gone into over-drive this summer!!
A quick return again for slumberland to the fizzy pop league, we including Marlon will step into their place 08/09 season.
Sunderland this time round is it? I'm confident he ain't leaving. I believe he's keen to repay the faith Boothroyd has shown in him, prove that he can still do a job for us; this is evident by signing his last contract back in May.
I'll be bl**dy glad when the playing starts again. transfer rumours are tedious in the windows but when there's nothing else to talk about you just lose the will to live
My thoughts exactly! I thought it was a well known fact Sunderland have been after King since he signed permanently for us! From what I heard it was between Watford, Sunderland and Portsmouth as to who he signed for from Forest! He only chose us because of his good relationship with Aidy, hence signing long-term contract just after Aidy had! I wouldn't be at all suprised to see a bid come in for him from them! However, £5,000,000 isn't good enough! If Nugent is worth £6,500,000 i'd want at LEAST £7,000,000 for King! Even then I don't think i'd sell him...he's too important!
Very true, but as is being shown at the moment, decent young strikers have a hefty price put on their head. £5m is to be sniffed at. £8m is to turn heads. £10m and the club will accept. I'm afraid we don't need to sell anyone, plus the fact Slumberland would have to pay the remainder of his contract, plus the fact we would then have little prospect of promotion unless by some miracle Hoskins, Priskin and Hendo find some magical talent for scoring 25 a season they have kept hidden.
Well if Hendo scores the same as last time - 15 or so - we only need Priskin and hoskins to score 40 together - that's all. The thing is - I think both Priskin and Hoskins could be 20-goal players in the CCC. I just think our supply line needs work. Once in a while it could be good to have some plays through the thirds of the pitch rather than bypassing two of them. My point is both Priskin and Hoskins CAN score - we just need to play the type of football the can set them up.
Wouldn't sell King, no matter what the price was. We wont splash out and we cant attract big players so theres no point selling a player we can't replace of equal ability. eughh, just immagining our strike force without king makes me shudder.... Kabba and Dorris?
I believe Priskin has the ability to be a 20 goal a season striker, but after watching Hoskins last season i'm not so sure if he can do the same, yet again like you said, it's all about the service. If we managed to play it on the deck (which we can) then they'd stand a better chance.
The club would accept a bid for 3 million , those of you that think MK is worth more, have a look at your arse next time you are wiping your bum
Absolutley no chance the club would accept £3,000,000!! We all said the club would accept £4,000,000 for Ash but look what we held out for! If King was to go it would be for at LEAST £6,500,000!
King is vital for us but come January and if we are in mid table, I think the club abd Marlon would seriously look at a dea elsewhere. As others have said, every player has their price. We know clubs like Slumberland have a fair bit of money and with the money comeing in from the new TV deal I would milk any offer dry until they came up with an unrealistic amount like we got for Ash. The problem is, like the Ash money, I doubt we would actually spend much of it.
If Marlon's neighbour is such a snob to complain about him having a kickabout in his own garden, he may wish to go live amongst real people up North, never mind the pull of the Prem.
:]] Not at all mate. King is 27. He still has a good 5 seasons at the top level left in him! King is hardly old.
Couldnt stop myself laughing when I saw this..... Sources: Vital Football Sources in the North East have revealed that Premiership new boys Sunderland have increased their offer for Watford striker Marlon King. An initial £5m was rebuffed by the Hornets - yet the Black Cats have now seen fir to throw in a few players as well as increasing the monetary offer to over £7m + £2m worth of players. King, who is keen to return to the Premiership is said to be intrigued by the move. Roy Keane has added striker Stephen Elliot and an unnamed midfielder to the deal in a bid to persuade the Hornets to release their prize asset. Though Watford do not want to sell the Jamaican international they have to be realistic. If they fail to gain promotion this season they could find themselves in a situation whereby their big hitters such as King, Mahon and Shittu decide to up sticks and leave ( by putting in formal transfer requests ). Nobody wants that, so this latest offer is being taken very seriously by the Hertfordhsire based club. An offer worth £9m is a startling sum for a Championship player and it is sure to tempt the Watford board. A source close to the Vicarage Road side said 'An offer of £9m is a startling sum for a Championship player and the board are tempted'.
:]] I saw that. I especially liked the bit about losing big hitter Mahon who might want to stay in the Premiership :happy1:
I have been saying this for a long time. Priskin could be a great player if Aidy would allow us to play the ball on the floor. Hoskins I am not as sure about but to be honest he has plenty of time before a verdict is reached o him. Wow what journalism there.
ha ha! Terrible journalism, and clearly no grasp of who the players are! He must have only seen the Portsmouth game on Sky! :]]
Marlon £11 Mill LOL!!!! C&P from Vital football Michael Chopra, the Cardiff City centre forward is locked in talks with Dave Jones to secure his release from Nininian Park with Vicarage Road his likely destination. Aidy Boothroyd has switched his attentions to Chopra having failed in a late £3m swoop for Freddy Eastwood late last night. Chopra, who netted 22 times for the Bluebirds last season is one of the hottest prospects in the Championship and has been scouted on numerous occasions by teams who are simply bigger than the Welsh outfit. A South Wales source told Vital Football 'Chopra has been asking himself - is Dave Jones a good manager or should he go? He cannot make up his mind whether Cardiff are serious about their Premiership intentions or they will fade away like last season. Watford, on the other hand are going to be challenging on all fronts next season. It`s a no-brainer, and Chops knows it'. A likely price of £2.5m will be small change to Watford, flush with parachute moolah and the Ash(ley Young) cash. Cardiff are determined to hold onto the ex Newcastle forward, but know as soon as Boothroyd says the word, Chopra will literally walk to Vicarage Road in order to play for the Hornets - a side who are one of the favourites for automatic promotion. With Marlon King heading to Sunderland for talks on a potential £11m deal, Bootheoyd knows he needs to boost his attacking options. Rowan Vine, at £1.5m will be partnered by Chopra in a new look attack designed to provide power, pace, skill and most importantly - goals. Tamas Priskin looks set to join Stuttgart although Vital Football is of the opinion that this move hinges on whether Boothroyd can secure the early release of Ecaudor sensation Christian Benitez from El Nacional. A source at the Copa America was quoted as saying ' Bothroyd is wondering whether he can secure the early release of Ecuador sensation Christian Benitez'.
