I base all evaluation of new signings on their FIFA Ultimate Team cards. Kabasele looks like an awesome signing. Physically strong and very quick. Only problem with this way of evaluating signings is that Ibarbo actually is useful in FIFA whereas in real life - well you get the picture. Kabasele will be a good player in the back three of Mazzari's 3-5-2. Happy about this signing.
No, that is the new shirt. The design's pretty cool; it's made to look like all the players have signed it.
From what I've heard, I like the look of this guy. Big, strong and quick and also good on the ball - used to be a winger.
Bit late transferring this over, but I asked on reddit earlier and this is what a Genk fan said about him: "I'm a season ticket holder at Genk and I'm truly, truly gutted to see him leave. He absolutely bossed our defense throughout the entire campaign, playing every single league minute. He's insanely calm and composed, rarely makes mistakes and has a real physical presence. One of the best defenders we've seen in past few years. Hopefully he can retain his image at Watford and become a key player for them, go on Kaba!" :drinking:
"I'm pretty sure Watford won't regret having signed Kabasele. Very tough and fast paced defender, technically above average with a very good header, defensive as well as offensive (former attacker).. He didn't miss 1 minute last season which means he doesn't easily take cards. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets into the starting 11 every week. Much better signing than Oulare by the way (never understood that transfer).." From the BBC comments section.
I'll just add that another Genk fan came in afterwards and offered his own further perspective: "I'll just add that he was better than Koulibaly was when he left us. This doesn't mean that he'll grow as fast as Kouli has but it's still a nice prospect." :naughty:
Actually, after seeing how shocking Denayer was tonight I'm a bit worried that this dude isn't rated as better than him...
How did Kabasele look on Saturday? Couldn't make it but interested to hear if he looks ready to nail down one of the three spots in defence.
Not great but not too bad either Went to ground too often, lost a fair few aerial challenges with Polter as well
Facing QPR and Poulter in particular was probably quite a good introduction to English football I think.
He did like to slide in... Maybe thats because he wasnt up to pace yet... In all fairness did anyone win a header against Polter? Walter must of seen that Nyom Anya and Suarez shouldnt be anywhere near the squad. I have given the benefit of the doubt to Suarez but I cant see what he has to offer at all. BW and AG showed exactly what was needed. But I was impressed by Amrabat. Looked very positive in the RWB position.
Good to see a winger played on his "right" side. Much more chance of delivering a ball into the box. Inswinging crosses may be more dangerous, but at Watford they've been rare than a four-leafed clover.
Anya, for all his criticisms is HG and knows how to play Wing back; excellent back up, though not starter. Agree about Nyom and Suarez. At a massive push, AG wouldn't be a bad CAM; is positive on the ball, can pass and shoot. I'm not advocating he's a starter though.
