Apologies for having a different point of view. Can someone point out exactly what point I said that I was against patriotism? They look cr*p on cars IMO, hence why I don't have one on my own. OK, saying chavtastic was probably a bit off, but then Cude has one so maybe it's not so far off the mark :-*. There's a house near Rickmansworth School that permanently flys the St. Georges cross on their flagpole and it looks great. It's just not my cup of tea because I'm happy to be a proud Englishman and comfortable enough not to have to ram it down people's throats like the Welsh or Scots seem to, (as another section of the forum gets the hump with me) :dismay:.
Yes its a free country, so I also retain my right to feel I would never want to attach a plastic pole and flag to my car . I can also comment on the fact that I think its a bit of a merchandising bandwagon that those of weaker minds may get trapped into. :-*
It could be worse...here in LA, the Lakers are due to have their NBA Champions victory parade later today. Cars will be festooned with Laker flags on one side and Mexico flags on the other. Though I live in LA, I hate the Lakers, and that is my problem. However, I also live in America and it burns me up to see all the Mexico flags here. I am fast becoming an old geezer. STAY OFF MY LAWN, YOU KIDS!!!
I think it's a great way to celebrate your Englishness - flying a 99p bit of plastic made in China off your Japanese/German/French car! :forehead: (No I haven't got one!)
I have the same debate here with rednecks and UAW meatheads here. What does where something is made have to do with being proud of being American, or in your case, English? You can buy a Japanese car and still be proud of being a citizen of your country. I buy English beer and toast the defeat of football teams both American and English all the time. What a great country this is!
