BLIZZARD FOLLOWS JARRETT TO DONS DOMINIC Blizzard has joined fellow Hornet Albert Jarrett in securing a season-long loan move to Milton Keynes Dons today (Thursday). Blizzard, aged 23, joins on the final day of the Football League loan window and will now be eligible to play for Martin Allen's side in this weekend's game with Walsall. Like Jarrett, the High Wycombe-born midfielder has been recalled from a previous loan spell to enable him to link up with the Buckinghamshire side. Blizzard had been playing at high-flying Stockport County, where he had started a total of seven games, only two of which the Hatters lost. Previously, Blizzard had made just one appearance for the Hornets this term, in a 0-0 draw with Accrington Stanley. The former Vicarage Road trainee had missed the great majority of the side's previous promotion winning campaign, following contraction of a viral infection. Blizzard will stay at the National Hockey Stadium until the beginning of May, with the Hornets unable to recall him during this time.
Why have they both been recalled so that they can go to Dons? Why didn't they just stay where they were?
Perhaps its part of the pay off to Hocky?:]] :]] :]] :]] :]] One years wages in lieu of notice and two loan players.
Could be that Dons gave us a better deal (paying higher percentage of wages), or that they are keen to sign them permanently and Aidy wants to cash in on them.
From TeamTalk: Allen signs up Blizzard on loan MK Dons manager Martin Allen has signed Watford midfielder Dominic Blizzard until the end of the season - with a view to a permanent deal. The 23-year-old has just completed a seven-game loan spell at League Two promotion rivals Stockport but will now make his Dons debut in the televised clash with Walsall on Sunday. Blizzard can operate anywhere across the midfield and can also fill in at right-back and will be hoping to guide the Dons to promotion from League Two. Allen signed Hornets team-mate Albert Jarrett on loan until the end of the season on Wednesday.
Very awkward to play against, does all the shyte jobs. Very underrated and undervalued IMHO, and a bloody decent guy as well.
He will do a good job in league 1 next season (if they get promotion), probably even a good squad championship player, but I think we are right to sell him.
Dominic Blizzard has been sensationally RECALLED by Watford, and then LOANED OUT to MKDonalds on the same day until the end of the season. Blizzard had been a permanent fixture in the County midfield since moving from Watford, and Jim Gannon thought that he had Blizzard secured until the end of the season. But when the Franchise went for him, he decided to go there instead, probably for the automatic promotion fight? Dom started seven games for County, and made a crucial contribution to four of those games in which we didn't concede and won to nil. It's very interesting move, but what the hell is going on?! County are now left with only Tony Dinning and Jason Taylor who can play in central midfield, with Damien Allen out on loan in Belgium and Keith Briggs has a broken leg. There are others such as Greg Tansey, but Tansey has only the experience of the two Paint Pot Cup games against Macclesfield and Chester, and Jim probably doesn't want to throw him into the mixer at this late stage. The other problem is Tansey, and Allen should he return, are far too lightweight for some of the battles we are about to see. With the loan window now closed, Jim Gannon faces a very uphill task. Michael Raynes could cover in midfield, and infact the last time we saw him in a County shirt against Wrexham at home in Septemeber, he played in a midfield role. Could Jim move anybody around? Perhaps Tes Bramble may be able to fill in in midfield? It's going to be very interesting to say the least.
I imagine he wanted to stay in the area, and the deal suited us because we will get money for him in the summer. Feel sorry for Stockport though, we don't seem to have treated them that well
Dominic blizzard was recalled because he asked to come back nearer to home as he was in digs in stockport. Also the club wanted to keep tabs on him because he is recovering from a year long virus, and Milton Keynes to watford is less travelling, makes perfect sense.
ouch 7-2 long run unbeaten and not conceding then come out and start losing games maybe its good dom got of a sinking ship?
Question is how much of that result was missing Dom and how much was the psychology of losing him the way we called him back.
Well they lost at Barnet 3-1 before this defeat, they are very short of fit players, hence that massive defeat.
