What a debut.... You can hear the story now, "yeah so they were 2-0 down at half time, then I came on, only went and finished 7-bloody-2" true story.
Setting up a game-changing goal with your first touch for a new club isn't a bad way to start - even if he could have been flagged for dangerous play (I haven't seen a replay yet).
Could be the time to regurgitate the Ighalo thread after he signed for us . The time to judge player is when we ve seen him play in person for us over a number of games
Just signed a new 2 year deal, with an option for a third. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/150304-ben-watson-watford-fc-contract-2314172.aspx
Great signing, does the gritty work Munari, Toszer and Abdi sometimes (sometimes being the key word) can't do - bit like Hogg.
Excellent. Very good player and definitely adds something we don't get with the other midfield options. Strong in the tackle, good leap and in capable of a great through ball.
Doesn't try and be flash with the first touch, which I'm afraid can't be said for some of our non home grown players
I think he is a good player, the one every team needs really. Been missing a nitty gritty hogg type player and he fills the gap. Joka obviously rates him as he has been pretty much ever present since signing. Glad to see him tied down for longer really.
Great news if, and it's a big if, Wigan don't have a recall clause. We're already losing Guediora before the end of the season, it would be too much on our squad to lose Watson as well.
I can't really understand why Wigan didn't want him. I would have thought someone like that would be vital to them, especially in their position. However, sometimes it's better for players if they move on. Look at McGugan, who Sheff Weds fans seem to love. Same as Fabbrini at Millwall. He's doing well for us, and is the busy, no nonsense player we've missed since Eustace. Ok, he's not perfect, sometimes has a heavy first touch and his shooting can be erratic, but he's done enough leg work to show that he's one of those underrated players that put a lot in during a game. He's already saved at least two certain goals in recent games with his covering ability. Good solid pro, and the type of character we desperately need in this difficult run in.
This is timely and good news I think we all agree. i was speaking to Mr IBB on court today and mentioned again to him how BW is doing quite a lot of the "Water Carrier' work. He is surprised at this as he has been a Palace ST holder since God was a boy and they saw him as very much the creative type.Whatever you can never have enough good players.
I think I remember seeing someone from Wigan, possibly Mackay, saying that Watson had already decided to leave in the summer and they needed players who were committed to the club. Watson wasn't, so they let him leave.
I think that was just a smoke screen. Watson is the type that will always give 100%, even if he's on his way. Having "committed" players hasn't done them too much good so far. Even if he was going, I would have thought they would have used him for the rest of the season just to help them stay up. Judging by the Wigan forum, they seem surprised he's doing so well with us.
very good signing. very happy with that although he has been a bit injury prone in the past. we look better defensively with him in the team.
