he certainly deserves it for his loan spell at southend but surprised its just a year on the back of the deal we've given out to others!

Good to hear, I think after the Murray extension they may be a bit more careful from now on.

Good news. I suspect they would like to see him at the next level up before giving him a longer deal. Expect him to go on loan next season to a league 1 side or even a Championship side if we were to be promoted.

I was thinking the same as you Harris, but I think No good and Knight have valid points. Though I hope it was us and not him that decided on the length of the contract, because if he progresses as we all hope, I would not want to lose him.

The extention does seem a little short, but good news all the same.

Mensah hasn't played a game for the club and he's just been given a deal til 2016, so I'm not sure that explains it.

Still annoys me that he wasn't given more of a chance at the start of the season when we were playing Garner/Iwelumo, oh well he has done well at each loaned club

Will he ever be Premier League quality though? Where we are surely destined to end up sooner or later.

I'd prefer to have a young player with potential on our books for it to come to nothing, than to let a young player go and watch them play in the Champions League.

Ha. "Let's sign up a random English no-hoper academy graduate to try and allay the suspicion of a continental bias" - yeah, good one Pozzos, keep ruthlessly sapping the soul out of our club.

Even if he never breaks through here, his loan form means there will be clubs interested in taking him off our hands - for a fee and future add-ons.

Just watching the Orient - Sarfend game

The poor kid spent the entire first half with a crooked neck, don't any of his team mates know how to kick the ball on the ground?

Just back from watching Britt play up front for Southend in the Johnson Paints Southern Final, second leg. He did OK but was leading the line on his own for a lot of the time and didn't get too much change from Orients centre half's - but did well enough for a youngster and helped create the chance for Southend's last minute equaliser, which got them through to the final against Crewe.

He is really well thought of by the locals and was chaired off the pitch before making an appearance in the main stand with the rest of his team mates.

    Well done Britt!

If Southend make the final at Wembley we should get down there and support Britt!!!

A sizeable group of WFC fans supporting Britt & Southend, preferably in our colours would be great at Wembley.

One of my best mates here at uni is a Southend fan, and i've been following their progress and Britt's with interest this season. Transpires the final is when we're both back up in the South East for Easter break, so we're already looking at the possibility of going along to this.

    Great stuff for Britt!

The aimless hoofing from both sides was truly awful, were we ever as bad?! Britt spends 3/4 of his time chasing lost causes. Excellent entertainment though, enjoyed every minute of it. Thought on the few occasions Southend actually got the ball down they looked halfway decent, like how they scored the winning goal.

Agree entirely with LTC-68. My mate who I went with is a Southend fan and we both agreed they needed to get the ball down more. Having said that, the turning point for them came with the early introduction of the beanpole to help Britt out, assuming it was a tactical substitution of course. Was impressed with the right back and Reeves(?) who scored the second goal.

    Lee Cook was awful.

Good entertainment from a neutral perspective. The Southend keeper did look decidedly shaky...

Hoofing shouldn't be allowed in football. I wish these long ball teams would all go bust. We play football how it should be played, even though we do it with too many loan players.

Although not scoring as much still getting starts so must be impressing performance wise.
