[NOT HAPPENING] Ashley Young

My mate actually bumped into him in Town today - told him he'd see him at the Vic next year to which he "laughed and smiled".

 

So now we shall see how genuine his comments were about wanting to finish his career with us.

If he does join us, it’s more of a feather in our cap now as he’s had a good offer to stay put.

If he doesn’t, it’s not such a massive kick in the teeth for us either now, merely that he’s decided not to up sticks and re-locate.

 

He's old and a fake "Watford boy" who doesn't actually give a crap about the club.

It's all well and good being decent for the best team in Serie A. Good luck with that even a season older and playing for one of the worst teams in the Premier League.

 

Italian close season articles are 99% made up and 1% rumour.

 

The new deal they've offered Ashley is half of his current deal. He's on about 50k a week apparently.

That's probably correct. He was on about 50k a week at Inter and they've cut that in half so we've probably offered about 30k a week. So he's got a chance to come back to the club he grew up at and earn more money, if he chooses Inter then the Twatter brigade (which I'm a part of) will be in full meltdown.

 

If he comes back, great. Experience and set-piece delivery.

If he decides to stay in Milan, I equally wouldn’t blame him. Big club, already settled and CL football.

Seeing as we're also in for Josh Doig, does this mean Young would play as a winger for us? Or is the plan that we loan out Doig to Udinese/the Championship, and have Masina and Young battle it out?

 

Or have all 3 around the place, giving us depth we will desperately need. Young’s versatility would be very helpful and I doubt we will be signing Doig to loan him out.

 

They probably just sit there comparing watches while the WAGs get absolutely bladdered and start fights with the locals.

Did we qualify?

 

We certainly did, second place in the Championship now qualifies for the Champions League in lieu of a trophy.

 

At least we can't get City in the group stage.

 

Were we not in the champions league last season ? Came 2nd. Have to sit this season out before competing again next season.
