Im not necessarily suggesting it, but Antonio looks like he's leaving Forest after being dropped from match day squad. We re looking for a winger, and Forests reported request to loan Vydra may have been an attempt by Forest to get a player in return. I could well be adding twos and making five of course . I think he'd be a pretty decent signing .
But how many homegrown wingers of that quality are there? And ones we can afford? It's better to get one like Antonio who will hopefully improve over time. I'm assuming we'll be looking for a homegrown winger. I wouldn't be surprised if it's another Ake type signing though. A young, foreign player on loan from one of the top 4 sides who is either under 21 or qualifies for homegrown due to him being in their academy for a few years.
He's definitely good enough to play in the Prem but I don't think he'll be coming here. Bournemouth were massively interested in him (and Gradel at the same time) and I wouldn't be surprised if they still are interested in him. I've also said somewhere else that Leicester could also try to get him if they sell Mahrez, with both moves likely to happen seeing as Mahrez has plenty of clubs interested in him and Leicester are only down the road from Nottingham
I agree, I was going to suggest him a few weeks ago, and that was before he fell out with Forest. He didnt just have a good season at Forest, he was the stand out performer by far, involved in just about everything that was good. Started off well this season too. But whether or not he would be good in this division, who knows? I doubt Watford would take the expensive risk.
But if we believe the reports that we're looking for a winger we're looking for something different to what those players offer - they are all either clever ball players or central strikers but none are a quick, direct winger. He's fast, good with both feet and he's excellent in the air, scoring quite a few headers at the back post last year. I'm not sure we would go for a player like him but we have no-one in the squad with his qualities at the moment so he would give us a different option...
No no and thrice no There are 4 certainties in life: births, deaths, taxes, and significantly better cheaper players available overseas
I see Inler has passed his medical at Leicester. ****. I would post on the relevant thread but not sure one was ever started for him
Yes I agree but we're at the stage now where it's one in and one out in terms of foreign players, I don't know who they'd get rid of to fit in a foreign winger.
Antonio has great physical strength, but i suspect the signing of Berghuis was sanctioned after any initial thoughts about him came to nothing because of the fees and wages expected to secure his signing.
Yes it does mean one in one out. The last 2 squads might be indicative of which NHGs are surplus and there might be a few disappointed fans around here.
Yes but Diamanti has taken Fernando's place now hasn't he? I'm assuming that's what you're getting at? I can't keep track of how many we need to get rid of still!
I've seen someone post something like this on twitter and I believe I posted this about Antonio a month ago. Offer Forest a sum of money + Dyer on a free plus a season-long loan for Fessi/Hoban/both, all for Antonio. With Forest under the transfer embargo that we were under they would probably jump at this opportunity
The one thing about buying expensive British players is that if they improve, they become even more ludicrously expensive to another EPL club.
Are you saying players in this country such as Andre Gray are not worth the £8m Brizzle are paying. Sounds good business to me and proves that you can get UK players for decent prices:]]
I had no idea he was English! So, yes. Derby have just had a bid turned down. If they are under an embargo, Forest might welcome some quality loans in.
Normally 100% in agreement, but if we are to have 25 contenders we must have some HG or lots of U21. It might be worth paying premium on one HG player and if you asked me who I'd back to make an impact immediatley between Antonio and Berghuis it would be the former. But price has to be within sanity.
They did and this deal will be worth 'seven figures' to them apparently. It's probably too much to hope all seven figures are zero.
Dear God, no!! Awfully overrated player, like bambi on frigging ice half the time. Not even in the same 'class' as Berghuis, Jurado, Abdi, Diamante or Anya.
