Have I missed something here? Why is myolddarlin considered a paedophile? Very strange.

 

But we weren't top 6, we were about where he picked up from and in a worse financial state. Yes we had a great season and ended up n the prem but ultimately we ended up worse off than when he started.

The on field stuff under Boothroyd was great. Yes he made some mistakes, as anyone would in their first crack at the big time, but he got us promoted. Unfortunately not all of his mistakes were rookie ones and some of the stuff that went on in the background still makes me shudder to this day.

I've had a few dealings with him and he has always been good as gold with me, but I am also privvy to a few bits that went on and some of it is beyond incredible but luckily has stayed relatively low key and not gotten into wider circles.

Also, when 'Tony Coton' talks about Boothroyd you should listen and take every word as gospel.

It amazes me that as fans of the club that we slate ex managers, granted some deserve it like Dave Basset but to slate a manager that has done well in his time here baffles me. I personally believe if Aidy hadn't got sacked he would of turn the team around and we would of finished higher than we did. That year he trying to install a new playing style, which can take time as you need to adjust it to the players available, yes he made some duff signings like ellington, but he wasn't the first manager to make a duff signing and wont be the last.

Surely the manager should be the one to get the players performing? If they're not, it's because of the manager.

I'm not bashing Boothroyd btw, I will always remember the good times we had with him as manager.

 

From what I remember it did appear to me that where Aidy went wrong was that he forced the players down the route of % football, just keep playing the ball here and we will win a share of knock downs and move on from there... anyone remember Stewart's forced dinks up the line and the kick off straight off for a throw by their box?

Sounds good on paper... but awful awful to watch and doesnt allow for players to adapt according to what they see.

 

I'm convinced Boothroyd had money on a throw inside 5 seconds every match.

Bl**dy hell, only 7 years since then with all that's gone on since. I'm shocked.

 

I'm surprised though to be reminded that he left us as late as November that year.

Did a great job first two seasons but should really have gone at the end of 2007 after the QPR home game or after the FA Cup defeat to Wolves (ironically we went on to beat them 3-0 in the league and the next two in a row, costing them a play-off place by one goal!).
