Irrelevant. That was for last season and I think he was more than worth it given what we achieved with him in the side. Been and gone. The question now is what is he worth to us going fwd and what do we think it will take to get him from QPR. I think he's worth £1m-£1.5m if we had to go to that. Do you ? Of course if we are sure we can get him for £500k then great but I'm not sure they will sell to us for that. The fact that others have offered £3.5m is irrelevant to us but may make QPR less inclined to give in and accept £500k from us.
Because QPR have parachute money, we have Premier League money....he's over inflating the price because of that.
Too bloody right though you need to cross the B out and insert an M. I'm a finance guy and much of my job is negotiation though of course I'm sure Gino is far better placed than me to negotiate on behalf of the club ! I'm just saying I'd be prepared to increase the bid from £500k if I felt we had to in order to make sure the deal is done. Would you guys or would you stick at £500k ?
I wouldn't be held to ransom by a chairman who looks like he's the ugly one from a 90s boyband. These days if a player wants to go somewhere he usually gets his way. Not saying Guedioura will demand a transfer but if he keeps rejecting other clubs then all we have to do is be patient and towards the end of the window we'll get him for the price we're willing to pay.
Palace chairmen have a thing about blond hair it would seem,Jordan looked like a low rent city trader! I had a dream last night that he signed, although Les Dawson and Herodotus were part of the deal too so not sure of the accuracy!
Good question. Seeing as we've shelled out 500k for him already I wouldn't go above 600k-700k. I'm not sure how Palace think they're going to get their money back or make a profit from us on a player who they don't want and will be out of contract this time next year.
How cam Palace reasonably want a profit when he's only got one year on his contract. It's like buying a car, using it for 2 years and trying to sell it for more than you paid. If you bought a banger and did it up, maybe, but I don't think that applies here.
The money we paid for his loan last year is in their bank and as relevant to the current spat on valuation as Arlene Philips inside leg measurement! If i was Parish and the player is clearly wanting to go to only one club and that club only wanted to pay silly money as a result of that leverage such that i was gonna get screwed over - I would call the bluff / hold registration till Jan as an Insurance for the squad and risk losing him on a free next year - knowing that if I need him then i have got value for money and if i don't the most i lose is peanuts. If player was foreign and not going to make my 17 and therefore was unavailable for selection before end Jan I would offer the player an exit payment of half a mill if he could stomach playing for QPR and if not sit tight and wait for Watford to raise their bid in a couple of weeks and cash in whatever they bid with a stay up bonus If i was Gino and i have tapped the player up and have a plan I would wait to 25th Aug and increase to a million take it or leave it - if they take irt great - if not i still have a week before window closes
What would Gino do in the same situation if he smelt a wiff of £3.5m ? He'd tell AG that he'd get no game time with us, we didn't value him as we are only offering 1/7th of what 2 champ teams are offering, remind him how great he was in the champ and how much he enjoyed going for promotion from that league, ask him how he's getting on with training with the kids, ask him whether he fancies that prospect for the rest of the season (probably one of his last 3 at the top of his trade), tell him he's going nowhere for less than £2.0m etc ......and assume he'll then sign for QPR for £3.5m. If that didn't work, maybe on the last day he'd agree to sell to us for £1m.
Actually no I don't, for the following reasons: 1. In 5 years of trying he's not managed to cement a career in the Prem, despite in that time potentially hundreds of managers, scouts and coaches watching him. Not one has said 'Aidy you're my guy'. Now before anyone puts words in my mouth that doesn't mean he can't with us, or that I wouldn't be happy to see him here at the right price, but it does mean he is a little unproven at that level. 2. He was excellent in a 4 diamond 2, not sure where he fits in a 4231, Is he a beter DM than Capoue or Behrami? Is he a better AM than Abdi or Jurado? 3. He's 29. 4. He's in the last year of his contract. 5. The most he's ever gone for in England was £2m when he was younger. 6. Parish has already had £500k out of us, another £500k is perfectly fair to me. 7. We're running short of OS slots, personally I'd still like us to push the boat out for a star Perotti or a Vazquez Like I say happy to have him, hope we get him (at the right price) but its silly to think he is the second coming and the rest of the prem have been blind and stupid to his talent for the last 5 years. I do fully expect to be in the minority around here with those views.
Palace may have paid more in wages for Sako, but seeing as he was also on a free, I’d call that pretty good business. They now have three rapid skilful and strong wingers who will frighten most teams in our division, especially bringing one on against tired legs. Cabaye is a fantastic signing and could push them towards Europa League football. He is that good. I said this a few months ago, but we will not get Gueds for cheap. There will be a number of Championship teams desperate for him and would easily be willing to pay 3+ million for him, so why would Palace let him go to us for cheaper. If we aren’t willing to get close to a Championship club offer then I do not see us signing him. I am very surprised that Gino would offer that much money for the loan without a future fee, as is usually customary in such deals. So perhaps we have a clause which we can take up if we do not get enough reinforcements in. Who knows.
The 500k wasn't for the loan, it was for promotion. A pretty decent price to pay considering how much Adlene helped us.
Speaking of Perotti if Italian press and google translate is to be trusted, it appears he's been told to either sign a new deal at Genoa or leave - he wants to go to Inter but we are the only offer on the table
I reckon we can talk them down to somewhere between 1m and 1.5m once they realise Pep is just going to reject the teams offering more.
Doesn't sound good. Last two times they've at least teased something positive...ish. Yeah, no suprise there. Sadly.
