Yes, I heard this in the bäckerei some weeks ago, but as usual anyone with information to share is ridiculed by the usual suspects on here, so I decided to keep it quiet.

    Reported by the Wobby now:

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...sina_completes_medical_ahead_of_Watford_move/

"The Hornets are expected to announce the left-back’s signing from Serie A side Bologna on July 1".

Now that my previous posts appear to be correct, I believe this supports my decision to apply for "ITK status". I await replies from Tim and Ming - although my email to Jim was returned with "Delivery Notification Status (Failure)".

Impossible. I read on the internetty webby thingy that he wasn't coming. Somebody found a linky thing that they translated from the native Uzbeki into Malay then Spanish and finally into English which said categorically that he was doing the moonwalk to 'Muff.

It's the earliest we could get an MOT for Masina* from Kwik-Fit-Constantin in Bucharest.
All this talk of a medical already being done are talking out of their backsides.
The nuts & bolts of the thing will be done and announced at the start of July.

*who knew, Masina is Romanian for car!

Given that all we have is speculation from the media, it's very worrying that there's been nothing official from the club. Bad news.

I'm hearing that this is now a done deal, but won't be announced officially until July 1st.

I appreciate that this is not being reported elsewhere, but you need to remember I pretend to live in Borodino and so I hear about these things first.

I just saw a man given a look of disgust on a Korean Texaco forecourt, after being served a puppy sandwich.

Maybe there's some truth in the talk about Okaka being involved in the deal, according to Corriere dello Sport:

    http://www.corrieredellosport.it/ne...ford_mette_okaka_nella_trattativa_per_masina/

    Translation:
Calciomercato Bologna, Watford puts Okaka in the negotiation for Masina
The defender will go to Premier, only the last details to be filed are missing

    Wednesday 20 June 2018 11:51

BOLOGNA - Adam Masina at Watford: deal made for 4 million cash plus 1 bonus. However, some details must be defined. Bologna has already made an appointment at the beginning of next week with Watford executives. It should be the key to unlocking everything, the road is downhill. Masina wants to measure herself in a new context and feels ready - after three years in A with Bologna - for the new adventure. He will arrive in a team that finished in 14th place last season. The property, as is known, is Italian: the Pozzo family. At Watford Masina should find - if the transfer market will not take him elsewhere - another ex rossoblù, the Uruguayan Manuel Angel Britos. There is also an Italian: it is Stefano Okaka (formerly Roma and Sampdoria), which also has also entered the sights of Bologna, or rather, Watford has tried to include it in the negotiation to have Masina. The Bologna would like to close only for the 4 + 1 required and at the end - less than sensational twists - it will be so. For now nothing counterarrtita.

"Masina wants to measure herself in a new context". A new context for her indeed. I guess this is 2018.
The obvious question - Does Masina cost more if we are throwing Okaka in too ?

My interpretation of the computer-translated text is that if we include Okaka in the deal, the fee would be lower - hence the part "Bologna would like to close only for the 4 + 1 required" (and perhaps significantly where it says we've tried to include Okaka in the deal, rather than Bologna inquiring over his availability).

  30. I suspect that we would want at least 5 million for Okaka (more 8-10m I would think). If so, I think it is possible that Bologna have expressed an interest in the Beast, but would rather take the money to keep their options open, and perhaps because they were hoping to pay Gino less than he's (possibly) asking.

In which case. Good luck with that one Bologna.

I think we’ll also need a large slice of luck to find anyone willing to pay 10m for Okaka. Unless it’s lira....

  32. Fair comment, but I suspect he is an assett valued more highly by Gino than by our fans. Maybe 10 is high, but I would be very surprised if we were looking for less than 6 million euros. What would you seriously value him at?

He's likely to go this Summer, so we'll probably find out Gino's valuation, which I don't think he will drop because the fans think Okaka's poop.

I can’t really comment too much on the Masina deal as I honestly had never heard of him. But the rumblings seem to be that we are getting a decent deal and he should be worth more. I agree Okaka in today’s market is probably valued at more than the cost of the Masina deal which makes his association to the negotiations strange - surely it would be them paying us and adding Masina you’d think.

I’d say Okaka is worth anywhere between £5m -£8m in today’s market. If we got anything more than that, I’d be very surprised.

  34. We do seem to be getting some bargains - are these statistical outliers or are the start of a trend of prices getting more sensible?

  35. Jossy

    Jossy Reservist

I'd say they are still most likely statistical outliers - Leicester have just spent £22/24m on James Maddison. I won't pretend to know much about him and I'm sure others on here can say what they think he's worth - but when you look at what we payed for Chalobah and Hughes combined, this fee seems incredibly high. His three caps for the England under 21's also pales in comparison to our lads (although he's likely to increase that amount, you would assume).

I think it's another example of Gino being very shrewd (or tight, depending on your point of view) with the clubs finances. And of course, having much shallower pockets than Leicester's Thai owners so therefore needing to sniff out as many bargains as possible.
