Just seen this on sky-sports news, Gareth Southgate will not allow Adam Johnson to join Rangers, but is prepared to send the Middlesbrough winger on loan to a Championship club. Surely (If we have enough money for his wages) we should go in for him.
ucking hell - if he joined on loan smith, rasiak, Aj - awesome - Promtion and maybe the championship. GS - get your wallet out, please.
5K at the most i'd say. As badger said, unless Boro were willing to pay a large proportion of the wages then i can't see it happeneing.
so how much is Polak Rasiak on? If we could get him on loan for the season surely £520k would be a bargain. Maybe that is why the other two are on hold. Would mean we would probably keep the squad we have for cover etc. If 10,000 of us put in £52 we could sign him? Approx 20 pints depending where you drink and if you actually buy a round you tight canuts.
Why's that then !?!? During the time he was here he was in fine form and was clearly enjoying his football and was adored by the fans for the short time he was here, i fail to see how that would make him not want to return especially seeing as Southgate has little intention of using him.
I think we'd be at the head of a queue if there were a number of clubs coming after him. Like Chewitt says I can't see him being on massive wages so hopefully an agreement could be brokered. That'd certainly be a mouth-watering attacking force - Smith, McAnuff, Johnson, Priskin, Hoskins and Rasiak (with the likes of Robinson et al in the wings). I'd love to see it happen, I really would, but I can just see there being too much red tape.
If he was to go to a championship team i sure there would be a cue of teams trying to get him, and i doubt he would pick us out when he could go to a team that are trying to win the league or at least make the play offs.
He knows the players, staff and surroundings so i'd say that would give us head start on other sides whilst i'm sure WFC harbour hopes of a top 6 finish even if we don't so i think that blows your argument about the team's aims out of the window.
He would be the difference between success and failure! If we could get him on a season long loan, then surely we should be pulling out all the stops to do so?! I would imagine we'd be his first choice if he was to go on loan to a Championship club?!
agree with you bubbley - all the stops. AJ would change the whole atmosphere of the fans at the club and be the additional supply line with Noddy for the goals as Muff just is not delivering.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11680_4001398,00.html "Adam can only move during the window and that does not work for us, so he won't be going there. We've had enquiries from 12 Championship clubs for him as well and he might go to one of them" Says southgate. The fact that 12 clubs are interested really gives us a slim chance of him coming back on loan here.
The difference between us and the other 11 is Boothroyd. He knows what makes AJ tick, and will know exactly what to say to him if he wants him back. I'd say the chances are still slim, but we'll be in the top 3 choices for AJ IMO.
Are you kidding me!? Surely that suggests we've actually got players of a decent calibre here, players that would be on his wavelength, and players who he could work successfully well with?
Are 4 internationals are who? poom, demerit, williamson and prisken. apart from demerit i dont think any of them deserve any credit for playing international football, as they play for such bad countries they are allways going to get picked.
If you play international football that means you're one of the best 30 odd players in your country. That must hold some weight even in the case of Poom representing Estonia who IMO are the weakest out of the 4 players' nations. There's a lot to be said for representing your country at international level whatever your homeland, if you ask me.
Rasiak has played for Poland yes or no?. so we have five - looking better all the time. I wasn't counting Williamson - what country does he play for? Poom - how many games he played for estonia - how games agianst world class opposition - Poom was a very very good keper at his peak. Jay - the weakest international i would say - done nowt for usa. Tamas - different player at that level and would perhaps thrive on an intelligent and skillful player like AJ rather than a mickey mouse over priced palace reject. Rasiak - Poland not the greatest team in the world i grant you. Name other clubs with Internationals in, in the fizzy pop. So Reading, Brum and Derby would be obvious choices for AJ - then Maybe northerrn clubs - Sheffield Utd, maybe Shef Wed - after that Wolves, Coventry. South East - Norwich/Ipswich Herts - watford London Charlton/palsarse 12 clubs - who could afford him, who would not want their first cjhoice to be come 2nd choice or leave in AJ's postion.
AJ is so unlikely to come here, even though I would love to see him. We've got no money. We cant even sign up a free agent full back. I think AJ would have the choice of any Championship club, and I dont think we'd be top of the list. Although I know he liked it here, and we wouldn't be that low down on his list.
Errr yes it does, you were insinuating that the club don't have ambition to have a stab at a top 6 finish whereas i'm sure they do and thus that would attract AJ. Hahahahaha priceless.
Im sure all clubs have ambition to do well big deal. Im not given any credit to poom or williamson for playing for countries that never win.
A lot of good players play for shyte countries. Hungary is a different league of shyteness though to most other places.
England are shyte. All England players are shyte. Football is shyte. Everything is shyte. Humbug. Hungary haven't qualified for the World Cup since 1986. They haven't qualified for the Euro Cup since 1976.
Aww, it would be great to have AJ back, wouldn't it? I will sacrifice some of my evening tipple tonight to the football gods to make it so.
Seriously, whoever gets AJ on loan will probably finish at least in the playoffs, he is awesome at this level. If he doesn't come to us then I just hope he stays at Boro. The fact that supposedly 12 clubs have enquired about him at least suggests that we could be one of them entertaining the idea and could perhaps scrape together some money from somewhere to sign him.
