I don't know if anyone else saw it, however, The News of the World (this Sunday) ran a story that Chelsea wanted to sign Adam Johnson from Middlesborough for a fee in the region of £5m. The reason for this is that they feel he has great potential to make it all the way (or something along those lines) and they need to add to their english contingent. Strange, it wasn't that long ago (earlier this season I think !!) that Watford were thinking about doing the same thing & signing AJ, and if it wasn't for the lack of money at the time (why did we sign Ellington) ........... who knows where AJ could have gone. Oh well, another missed opportunity. Ashley Young, Ben Johnson, Adam Johnson (Cork ???) ............ you never know, they could all be playing for England soon. And no, I wans't tempted to add Birdcr*p to the list, Ross Jenkins has more potential in my opinion.
Plays for Worthing now (http://rebels.worthingfc.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=636&Itemid=99) not much on him though but if Rob says he'll play for England i'll take his word for it
Ok, so I put the wrong surname down, however, you all know who I was talking about. The whole point of the thread was to point out that a player who was on loan here not long ago and he was so bl**dy good for us, there was talk about us siging him & the NOTW are now reporting that Cheski are interested in him. After all, its been some time since Watford have had a player playing for England (or even Ireland, Wales, N Ireland or Scotland) - when it happens, they all seem to be ex-Watford players nowawadays. I just think that there's nothing better than watching a Watford player playing & playing well for his country (especially when it England.)
