errr - that is what i said!! We will get someone at least as good but if they get the right offer they will sell - that is the business model
As I understand it you said they'd sell for £5m at the drop of the hat ... it's a good price but he'd be hard to replace with a ready made equal. There is no time to bed in players in such a big position that just look promising.
So that's narrowed it down. And it's probably not a woman or a child, so I reckon we can narrow it down to about 2 billion suspects.
Just looked on WIKI and the new Corsa has never scored a goal, not one. poor poor stats, its a no from me.
http://www.zol.ch/sport/Aufstieg-und-Tor-des-Jahres-Almen-Abdi-wieder-im-Blickfeld/story/20668801 Almen Abdi has in Watford still has a contract for one year. Nevertheless, he is a little monosyllabic regarding his future in England. He referred to the Premier League as a "dream of every footballer," but stresses that discussions were still leading with the club management. A change back to Switzerland - for example, the Young Boys - but seems more a non-issue after the climb. With the Bernese Abdi had been repeatedly brought into connection. Not least because the former manager of FC Zurich, Fredy Bickel, acts in the same function at YB. Sounds like he's off?
No it doesn't. It basically says that he's been linked with a move back to Switzerland repeatedly (he has), but this is absolutely not happening because we got promoted and that's his dream. Essentially, the chances of him leaving have gone from 2% to nil.
Discussions with the club management probably means a new contract as it mentions he has a year left.
Sounds more like speculation, but difficult to say with translation. I love Almen; he is one of the players I would really love to see play for us in the PL. But IF he has fitness issues, which seems to be a nailed on certainty, then I could understand the club looking for a replacement, and, sadly, letting him go. IF there is anything in this speculation, I can only think that this would be the reason. I would be devastated about this from the point of view of wanting to see him in a Watford shirt in the PL, letting others know about the little secret that they have failed grasp over the last three years, but could not argue against a practical decision made by the club for what may be good reason. His different injuries have been quite wide ranging, and Plantar Fasciitis, I believe, is a condition that once identified, needs to be actively avoided for risk of recurrence. Possibly reading too much into things again, but I can think of no other reason why we would let him go, if that is indeed the case.
I doubt there'll be any decision before Squeaky assesses him for his squad ... and then contract talks will need to happen which could take a while so don't expect any news soon.
Take out his spell out with his inflamed foot, and his injury record isn't what I'd call a 'fitness issue'. George Thorne has a fitness issue, because he's barely strung 10 games together in three years before screwing his knee up and being out for half a season. Abdi just has occasional niggles like any other player. Even if his absence turns out to be a permanent problem rather than misfortune, the club still wouldn't sell him. He's that important. He only started half our games this year but still chipped in with hugely important goals. The winner with 10 men at Reading. The winners against Hudderfield and Forest. I could go on.
