Portsmouth lost 20 games and survived. We've only lost 12 this season, so maybe all's not lost yet ;)

Portsmouth also have a multi-millionaire Russian chairman.

Well looking at Aston Villa last season, 10 12 16 42

If we want to come in 16th this season then we have to win 8, draw, 3 and lose another 4 to be level on points with their total from last season.

17th it's even easier. We get to lose another 8, win another 8 and somehow reduce our draws by 1.

If we want to get the 38 points needed for safety we will have to do the following from our remaining fixtures..

    A Man Utd LOSE
    February
    H Bolton DRAW
    A West Ham WIN
    H Wigan Athletic WIN
    H Everton DRAW
    March
    H Charlton WIN
    A Tottenham DRAW
    H Chelsea LOSE
    April
    A Middlesbrough DRAW
    H Portsmouth DRAW
    A Blackburn WIN
    H Man City WIN
    A Sheffield Utd WIN
    May
    A Reading DRAW
    H Newcastle DRAW

That gives us 40 points and pretty much guarrentees survival.

    Maybe not......

But I could see us turning a few of those draws into victories, which would make up the shortfall of a few extra defeats
