7 Watford players have been called up to represent their respective countries during the international break. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/10642974._/ Doyley - Jamaica Belkalem - Algeria Anya - Scotland Bond - England U21 Battocchio - Italy U21 Murray - Rep Ireland U21 Smith - Rep Ireland U21
Nothing more annoying than this. Especially the Nosworthy scenario. Good to give players game time though who dont start regularly for us.
Interesting comments from Deeney last night on 3CR that he's been visited by the Jamaican rep but rejected a potential call up on the basis that he wants to concentrate on club football here. And doesn't fancy flying half way around the world and back two days before league games here. Good news for us I'd say. Just a shame Lloyd doesn't have the same idea.
With the strikers England have available to them, I'd imagine part of Deeney's reason is that he's holding out hope on that front too. I wouldn't blame him - if Lambert, Carroll, Zaha etc can get in the squad, I see no reason why in a season or two, if he keeps playing as well as he has been in the last year, why Deeney couldn't make the England squad.
Looking forward to seeing Hoban, Murray and Smith in the senior team in the next few years! Hoban has to be a dead cert given the potential he's shown.
