7,500 online and direct debit deadline buyers so far. with 400 odd taking advantage of the extended weekend time to change their minds maybe. i wouldnt expect much more as online was by far the easiest and cheapest option to pay. im sure the brilliant feeling of staying up changed many minds. full blurb here http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/8149066.Watford_sold_7_500_season_tickets/
3k down on last year. mine being one of them as i can't really afford it. still be trying to get to plenty of games though
indeed but online was much cheaper option. they are making out the are gona get a lot more through post but i seriously doubt it...yet never know we may push around 8,500 perhaps. not the shock disaster some thought would happen.
I think we could possibly make 9-10 thousand after the second deadline and also new applications after the early bird deadline has expired.
I have a question, I want to do it by direct debit this year, but could I only do it on the deadline just passed?
you'd better ring the club... they mention “The only thing that has changed from the first deadline is that the online price is now equivalent to the post or phone price and the direct debit method of payment is no longer available.” they might still let you sort it out though..
7,000-7,500 was always going to be the minimum. However as you rightly point out there can't be that many more to sell.
What's an acceptable level for a club like ours? I know we had around 10k last season with the 20% lower price (or whatever the offer was that Paddy is always complaining about). After what's happened this season the drop can't be a surprise but with the positives we've seen these last few weeks - safety, bond issue, JR and GT making up - I can't help but think that some people who had decided against renewing - just might anyways.
Acceptable? Not sure such a figure exists. I'd just say our core support at present is about 7,000 STHs. 10,000 is the high watermark.
The problem is not with the Lidl Mob that always renew so as not to miss a 'bargain' ..... it's with putting bums on the (increasing number of) empty seats at The Vic. No doubt the 'Marketing Dept' will jack the prices up again to discourage the casual supporter - so that the team can continue to play in front of rows, and rows, of empty seats. They should have a 'Bucket Seat' booth outside and flog off all the available empty spaces for a fiver as the teams come out ..... though I imagine the Subsidised Skinflints would howl in pompous indignation at such an idea (then bitterly complain there's no money for new players/the East Stand/paying off our debts/buying back the Vic etc etc .... ad nauseam!
What they need to do is NOT raise prices on the day, but have them on general sale at the same price and not give out the usual story about number of stewards needed etc. What they could also do is give the away fans more of the Vicarage Road end when they know the tickets will sell, has anyone ever seen the home part full?
Do will sell season tickets in the home part of the Vic? If so that would cause both friction and hassle if people were moved from there seats a few times a season.
And what part of my post on how to get a larger attendance at the Vic did you disagree with? Any bright ideas forthcoming from sunny Berkshire?
Then we shouldn't sell season tickets there. As we've already seen, it's not like there aren't plenty of other seats available for STs around the rest of the ground.
I wasn't commenting on your crowd boosting notions just your general rather downbeat demeanor. I agree that putting prices up on the day is counterproductive. But i wouldn't be too chuffed to see tickets for a fiver on sale at virtually every game either having shelled out £340 for a season ticket.
It is. I just wish the sodding families would move there so I don't keep getting told to mind my language
It is very rare for the away end to be completely sold out, and as far as I am aware, they only have to allocate 10-15% of capacity to away fans.
