The central midfield area needs strengthening massively. We've let go of/lost Yeates, Eustace, Buaben, McGinn and Chalobah. If Battocchio, Hogg and Abdi are all staying we will still need another two centre midfielders. If we keep Abdi, Battocchio, Ekstrand, Anya, Pudil and Cassetti and add Faraoni, Fabbrini, Angella, Acuna as expected, plus a couple of centre midfielders and a good left back, then we will be potentially absolutely unstoppable.
Cant really see where the goals are gonna come from though can you? Seriously, if we play that team, there wont be a back door in the championship left unsmashed. (Id have Cassetti over Hoban but lets not split hairs)
3-5-2: Bondmunia Ekstrand Angella Nos Faraoni - Battochio Abdi Cassetti - Pudil Fessi Deeney 4-3-3: Bondmunia Faraoni Angella Ekstrand Neuton(?) Abdi Battochio Cassetti Fessi Deeney Fabbrini The amazing thing about this exercise is how many ****ing quality players end up not in the team.
I was thinking about the announcements the other day, and I think they might do it to keep us under the radar for as long as possible. E.g the Acuna deal has been officially announced, but not on our website. Yes it makes it 100% official, but with patience we all found out anyway. Yet again, clever from the Pozzos. Although I admit the club could be a little more co-operative on Twitter.
Mr Pozzo confirms 3 are coming I'm surprised that this hasn't been posted ( or not that I can see ) http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...io_to_move_to_Watford__says_Pozzo/?ref=twtrec Gabriele Angella, Marco Davide Faraoni and Diego Fabbrini all joining Very good news
So next season s squad could look a something like this. Almunia, Bond, New GK Angella, Ekstrand, Hall, Nosworthy, Hoban, Cassetti, Faraoni, Anya, Pudil, Doyley, New LB Abdi, Battocchio, Hogg, Smith, Murray, New DM, New AM/WINGER Deeney, Forestieri, Acuna, Ikpeazu, Fabbrinni, Ranegie
I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't renew Hall's contract. Good player but old and injury prone - we have better.
Would make sense, though see next para. It's been said we want a smaller squad than last year (35 I think it was), so a squad of 28-30 maybe fits the bill after loans out, etc. Where would we stand on Hall? As we didn't put him on the free agent list I think we have to offer him a contract, if we haven't already. He can choose not to accept it, but I think we must make him an offer.
I hope we play a front 3 next season. Forestieri and Fabrinni out wide with Deeney in the middle. Could be a thing of genuis with the creativity of those 2 wide and Deeney's ability to hold up the ball. Many options. Starting to get a little excited.
Abdi, Hogg, Bottachio, Smith... We don't have the right sort of midfielders for a 4-3-3 nor anywhere near sufficient cover, need to be athletic rangy all rounders I just don't see it as the plan A formation, think it will remain plan B until such time as we get the right sort of players in
Agree. Abdi for as brilliant as he is, isn't going to be one of those players. I think we will play 3 5 2 more often than not with one of the 5 being a holding player.
The fact that Jenkins and Hodson have been left behind and scholars have travelled instead surely means they're sorting out moves away from the club. It's a shame but both obviously aren't good enough to help us get to the next level.
I think Hodson could provide good competetion for the RWB role. Good going forward, has some pace, has a decent cross and isn't a bad defender. Good squad back-up. He had a good first season when he came through and then suffered "2nd season syndrome" recently seen in Sean Murray. I hope he gets a decent move if he goes. Championship standard for sure. I'm hoping Murray kicks on this season too. Play him through the middle. He'd be brilliant if he found his form again. He isn't a winger or wing back.
It's the embargo which should be a rubber stamping excercise but until they are officially cleared they are not officially ours.
Think that was from a few days ago before they left. Since then Thompson has retweeted something from a personal trainer he's working with. Maybe he's got a loan moved lined up?
http://www.alfredopedulla.com/articoli/23568-esclusiva-fabbrini-watford-si-chiude-oggi ''Meeting in the afternoon for the transfer of Diego Fabbrini to Watford . There will be a summit with ' Udinese , you should go to the white smoke. The attacking midfielder had initially expressed some concerns about the move to England, but now the reserves are going to be dissolved. And already in the day should get the final okay. As is known, the Watoford is a club owned by the family Pozzo .''
Can we make it a forum rule that even if a news release is in English, it must first be translated via at least 2 other languages in Google translator before being posted on this board. I find I'm much more interested in news with random mistranslations and odd choices of word.
I have tried to give it my best shot but my Italian is a little rusty. here goes: Meeting Watford’s white smoke this afternoon, Dieggo expressed some concern. He will be dissolved. Pozzo is okay with that. Watford is owned by Pozzo.
